Chapter 965
Chapter 971:
Candice said slowly, “Greyson, thank you for taking care of me during these days. I’m also grateful that you saved my life. Although you admitted to sowing discord and revealing my mother’s situation to Sigrid, I don’t blame you. As you said, the truth would have come out sooner or later, so there’s no need for you to carry that burden.” She paused, and then continued, “But, I know you’ve been carrying the fact that I saved you in Overshow ten years ago in your mind. You think that because I helped you, you should always repay that debt. Greyson, I saved you once, and now you’ve saved me again. Let’s call it even. You don’t owe me anything, and I’m very grateful to you. Let’s move past this and be friends. Isn’t it good?”
“No! Of course not!” What he feared most was her distant demeanor. The calmer she appeared, the more detached she seemed from him. Even though they had been together day and night recently, she showed no romantic feelings towards him, only gratitude.
He didn’t want to be friends with her. She knew clearly what he wanted.
He had believed that, as long as she returned to him and granted him time, he could care for her wholeheartedly, winning her back with his tenderness.
However, she didn’t. Even though she carried hurt and bruises in her heart, she remained closed off to him.
He found himself unable to provide her with warmth or draw near to her.
At that moment, he realized that time was slipping away too quickly, while she couldn’t move on so easily. Thus, he had to take her back home.
He crafted various excuses to postpone her discharge.
He insisted that she should undergo daily cardiac function recovery training and scar treatment. Ultimately, he declared she needed a comprehensive physical examination. Exhausting all excuses, he had no reason to keep her any longer. As she departed, panic gripped him. He dreaded the idea that she might sever their connection once she was gone, and feared they would be drifting apart. And he would have no justification to seek her out again.
“Candice, you still require long-term postoperative follow-up. It’s challenging for you to perceive the changes in your body. I’m a doctor, and if you stay with me, I’ll promptly detect any issues. I can offer you the best care.”

Suddenly, Greyson extended his arms, embracing Candice tightly. “Please don’t reject me,” he implored.
Candice sighed helplessly and gently pushed him away. “Don’t do that. I don’t want to lose a friend,” she murmured.
His heart felt the weight of her words. Greyson reached for a document on the coffee table and said, “Alright, let’s discuss it later. At the very least, you should accept the shares of the Blake Group. They rightfully belong to you.”
For a whole week, he had given her the share transfer agreement, but she remained steadfast in her refusal to sign it.
“You bought it, so it belongs to you. I won’t take the shares. Besides, I don’t know anything about biological medicine either,” she reiterated, shaking her head.
In the past, she had been eager to reclaim the Blake Group, thinking it could provide solace for the loss of her parents in a seemingly accidental car accident.
