Chapter 776
Chapter 776:
Currently, being in such close proximity to him was pushing her limits. But before Candice could rise to her feet, Milton unexpectedly grasped her wrist with his left hand.
He pulled her closer without hesitation.
Taken by surprise, Candice lost her footing and found herself plunged into the bathtub.
A shriek escaped her as she was soaked through instantly, her silk pajamas now clinging to her figure, tracing an alluring silhouette.
Water spilled over the edge of the bathtub, creating a soapy puddle on the floor. Candice’s entrance into the tub had pushed aside the bubbles, rendering the scene beneath the water’s surface visible.
With an impish smile playing on his lips, Milton proposed, “How about we bathe together? I bet you won’t feel stuffy in the water.”
Candice was flabbergasted. This man had the audacity to pull her into the water. Regret washed over her for pitying his injured right arm. She wished, in that moment, that both his arms were incapacitated. His left arm, after all, seemed to be serving him quite well.
“How could you!” Candice seethed, her anger rendering her speechless.
Milton flashed her a grin and began unbuttoning her shirt. “Take it off. Surely, you don’t find these drenched clothes comfortable?”
With each button he unfastened, his breathing grew heavier. Her drenched attire clung to her frame, proving to be far more alluring than nudity. He hadn’t succeeded in getting her to bed the previous night. After holding back his desire for a day and a night, he lost control of his restraint.
His initial intention was to merely play a trick on Candice. Much to his surprise, he was the one struggling with the situation.
Candice was soaked from head to toe. The weight of her clothes clung heavily and chilled her. Her discomfort led her to remove his hand. She stripped off the wet garments herself and dumped them into the nearby laundry basket. Fuming, she turned around, avoiding the sight of his infuriatingly handsome face.

“Finish your bath quickly and then leave.” Candice thrust the shower head at Milton and snapped, “Your left hand seems to be perfectly fine. You don’t need my assistance.”
Milton gently ran his fingers through her damp hair, trailing down her smooth neck and along her back. His gaze darkened as it traveled lower. Her stunning silhouette and fair skin were overwhelmingly attractive.
Suddenly, Milton pulled her back into his embrace. The touch of his skin caused a warm flush to spread across Candice’s face, coloring her cheeks and causing her ears to turn rosy. In a state of panic, she tried to create some distance between them. But she overlooked his chest injury. Though the internal damage was unseen, it didn’t mean he was immune to pain.
As she pushed him on the chest, Candice glared over her shoulder at him. Milton winced, his brows knitting together in discomfort.
Seeing his pained grimace, Candice quickly spun around, her heart pounding in alarm. She reached for his chest, her fingers gently tracing over the area. “Does it hurt? I’m sorry. I overlooked your fractured ribs. Did I hurt you when I pushed you? It must be painful. What can I do? Should I call Dr. Pierce?” Her cheeks flushed a deeper red, and anxiety welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill over.
