Candice couldn’t believe her ears when she heard Milton’s additional remark.
Didn’t he think he’d already given Bettina and Jarrod the wrong idea with his first comment? Now he was telling them that he also hadn’t gotten much sleep last night?
Bettina bit her tongue to keep herself from shrieking.
She glared at Candice, finding it hard to believe that her best friend was still determined not to tell her anything.
Jarrod remained silent as well.
An hour later, they arrived at the Vinson Golf Club.
Milton was feeling completely refreshed after a good nap during the trip.
He ushered Candice and Bettina into the club and then went to help them apply for special memberships. His signature was required on all the paperwork.
In the club’s training room, there were usually two sets of equipment available so two groups of distinguished guests could practice or compete simultaneously.
Candice and Bettina had just entered the training room when they unexpectedly encountered some annoying men.
It was Cathy from Warren Building Materials and Alta from Brenton Wood again!
What the hell? Candice and Bettina were caught off guard. They didn’t expect to run into them again. It was as if they were following them everywhere.
However, this time, Cathy and Alta seemed to be accompanied by a man.
Bettina cursed under her breath, “What the heck! My mood is ruined by these bitches.”
Candice narrowed her eyes and recognized the man with Cathy and Alta.
It was Braylen, the boss of the Dury Group.
She had met him once when Milton took her to a small dinner party. They were looking for a suitable partner for the new golf club project. Candice had a bad impression of him.
Braylen looked over forty years old. He had droopy eyes and dark circles underneath. His muscles were flabby, and it was obvious he rarely exercised. No doubt, he was an alcoholic and a womanizer.
Candice remembered feeling drunk after just one glass of wine Braylen had given her.

He had said provocatively, “Candy, you haven’t had any wine. At least now that you’re here, you owe Mr. Lopez some respect. Just one glass. How about that?”
She never thought much of it back then. But now she believed Braylen must have deliberately drugged her. He wanted her to embarrass herself in front of Milton. Since Candice had recommended Milton hand over the new golf project to Lambert, the boss of Far East International Trade Company, Braylen must have hated her for ruining his chance.
Sure enough, Candice saw Braylen’s face change abruptly when he noticed her. He looked terrifying.
Cathy was the first to shout, “Candice? Why are you here? Screw you!”
Alta added disdainfully, “What’s going on? I keep running into this broke woman everywhere I go. Can’t you see we’re playing? If you had any common sense, you’d go somewhere else.”
