Chapter 707
Chapter 707:
Candice was thrown for a loop. It looked like everyone was aware that they lived together. During Milton’s board meeting, he had instructed Jarrod to move his belongings to her house, making their relationship quite evident.
At that moment, Boden discreetly tugged at Anson’s sleeve, a cough escaping his lips, and advised, “Ahem! Let Mr. Lopez do the persuading. Let’s be on our way, shall we? Time is of the essence.”
With a smile toward Candice, Boden deftly dragged Anson away.
After they walked a considerable distance, Anson voiced his discontent. He grumbled, “Why the need to take me away? I fear losing such an exceptional talent. We can only extract her utmost value by utilizing her ourselves.”
“It matters not where she works. After all, she resides in Mr. Lopez’s orbit. She’ll unquestioningly serve him for all her days. Stay out of it. It’s not a question of if she agrees; it’s simply a matter of Mr. Lopez making the request,” Boden’s voice gradually faded as they turned the corner.
Soon, they were out of sight.
Candice stood still, emotions swirling inside her.
Though she couldn’t fully make out all of Boden’s words, she managed to catch fragments.
He thought she resided in Milton’s orbit, that she would unquestioningly serve him for all her days. It dawned on her that this was how everyone perceived her. While the two founding members acknowledged her abilities and believed she could bring them advantages, in their eyes, even as a lawyer with a successful career, she remained nothing more than a man’s mere possession.
Suddenly, an impulse surged within her. She reached for her phone, tempted to call Milton. He had to move all of his belongings from her home before returning. Her slender fingers hovered over the dial key, but she ultimately restrained herself. Considering the early hour where he was, she didn’t wish to disturb his slumber.
She took deep breaths, trying to rein in her emotions. No matter what, she couldn’t allow herself to be perturbed by irrelevant individuals.

She hastened toward the president’s secretaries’ station. Blair greeted her with unusual politeness, promptly opening the president’s office door for her.
When Candice stepped inside, she found the stack of documents she needed sorted and neatly placed on the desk. Candice picked up the weighty bundle of folders. Without cracking open a single one, she exited the office. Blair respectfully bid her farewell, saying, “Goodbye, Miss Blake.” Candice nodded gently, turned around, and left.
Since the Corless case, the Royal Garden Corporation had seamlessly acquired Warren Building Materials, and she had earned respect throughout the group. The secretaries and those she encountered along the way regarded her with varying degrees of deference. Candice quickened her pace, returning to the Hope Law Firm.
Regardless of others’ perceptions, she would remain steadfast in her career, striving to become an exceptional lawyer and achieve greatness within her chosen field!
Two days later, Greyson found himself swamped with corporate matters at Harmony Hospital. His recent schedule had been jam-packed, as Harman Group expanded by merging with multiple other companies, dominating the entire biopharmaceutical landscape. His desk was almost buried under a mountain of documents.
