Chapter 798
Chapter 798:
“Well, it seems I don’t need this anymore.”
Then, he swooped down, picking up Candice.
“Let’s head to the dining room for lunch. Walking seems a bit difficult for you at the moment. Don’t worry about the law firm today. And I’ll be heading to the office tomorrow. This afternoon is free for us. How about we experiment with some new positions?”
At his words, Candice’s lips quivered.
Internally, she roared, “Fuck off!”
At the Hope Law Firm,
Candice proceeded with her routine over the next few days, diligently attending to the final details of the acquisition case. The police had reached out to her, presenting additional evidence. Corless and Cathy were apprehended and would face their sentencing at a later date. A friend prosecutor had informed Candice that the siblings would likely be sentenced to life imprisonment.
Meanwhile, Milton found himself immersed in a flurry of activity upon his return to the Royal Garden Corporation. After taking a few days to rest, he was faced with a multitude of tasks demanding his attention.
On this particular day, Candice made her way to the local court for a trial. During the lunch break, she opted for takeout and enjoyed her meal while the trial was temporarily adjourned. By the time the proceedings concluded, it was nearly two o’clock in the afternoon.
Jarrod, entrusted with the responsibility of picking her up, drove her back to the Hope Law Firm. He headed towards the underground garage to park the car while Candice strolled towards the firm’s entrance hall.
From a distance, she observed a throng of people gathered in front of the law firm. The crowd seemed to be in a state of excitement, and Candice couldn’t discern the reason for their commotion.

Normally, she would have steered clear of such situations, but the crowd had blocked her only path. Reluctantly, she decided to face the commotion head-on. If she had foreseen this, she would have accompanied Jarrod to the underground garage and taken the elevator directly to her office. As she drew closer to the company building, Candice noticed that even her assistant lawyer and the receptionist were among the crowd.
Taking charge, she stepped forward and confronted them. “What on earth are you both doing here during working hours?”
Caught red-handed, the assistant offered a sheepish smile and explained, “Miss Blake, there’s a luxury car parked here. Everyone came out to catch a glimpse of it. Such a stunning sports car is a rare sight, even at the most extravagant auto shows!”
Candice pursed her lips disapprovingly and playfully tapped the assistant’s head. “What does this luxury car have to do with you? Weren’t you supposed to finish that case summary? Why haven’t I received it in my email? Are you aspiring to become a bona fide lawyer?”
