Chapter 762
Chapter 763:
“Alright, answer me this. After her miscarriage, you had no reason to keep it from your grandfather. Why did you withhold the truth from her?”
Greyson responded, “Because one lie necessitates a thousand more to conceal it. I already…”
Greyson cast a guilt-laden glance at Candice, uttering, “I’m sorry, Candice. I couldn’t bring myself to tell you then.”
Candice stared at Greyson, her lips quivering.
She finally understood why Milton had suddenly called her, pressuring her to terminate the pregnancy. Milton, having seen the erroneous report, assumed she was eight weeks pregnant when she was actually twelve weeks along. It was a month’s difference. Did Milton believe the child to be Greyson’s? That explained his harsh words. It all made sense now. Milton hadn’t forsaken their child. He had been misled by Greyson. He had consistently used contraception, aware that she was not in the right state to bear a child.
Candice had misjudged Milton.
“Greyson, I…” Candice gazed at Greyson with a sorrowful expression and uttered, “Never mind. Let’s leave the past behind. I don’t wish to dispute any further. Since we have clarified matters today, there is nothing left for us to discuss.”
“Let’s go.” Milton offered his unhurt left hand, drawing Candice close to him.
Greyson didn’t want them to leave. Their departure signified losing her forever. He couldn’t accept that.
Suddenly, he stepped forward, breaking their joined hands.
“Milton, don’t confuse right and wrong. I confess to concealing the truth about her pregnancy. But what does this have to do with your mother causing Candice to tumble down the stairs? Even though Candice was doomed to lose the baby, it can’t negate the fact that your mother was responsible for her miscarriage.”

Milton’s countenance hardened as he acknowledged the truth in Greyson’s words.
He was unable to justify his mother’s actions. That was why he refrained from informing Candice immediately after suspecting something amiss with Essie.
Milton intended to warn Greyson against scheming behind his back, not to reveal it to Candice. He didn’t foresee Candice overhearing the conversation after changing her clothes so quickly.
As Greyson compelled them apart, Milton’s fury intensified.
He attempted to draw Candice back to him, but his injury hindered his movement.
Greyson, exerting a forceful tug, pulled Candice away. He said, “Milton, can you keep an eye on the people around you? Can you protect Candice every hour of the day? Can you guarantee no one will harm her?”
“Enough! Stop it. We need to leave.” Candice rebuked Greyson sternly.
