Chapter 821
Chapter 824:
“I got it. You may leave now. Please submit the documents for the two latest cases as soon as possible.” Without uttering another word, Candice gestured for the assistant to depart.
“Of course, Miss Blake!” The assistant quickly turned and, feeling a sense of relief, wiped away the perspiration that had formed on her forehead. That was a close call! Being caught by Candice today, she had feared for her job. Fortunately, Candice did not unleash her anger.
“Wait!” Candice suddenly called out to the assistant once again.
Startled, the assistant turned around, her voice trembling. “Miss Blake, what else can I do for you?”
Candice pointed to the bouquet of flowers Greyson had brought. “Take this bouquet. It’s yours. Remove it from my sight.”
The assistant lawyer stood there in stunned silence. “Oh… thank you,” she managed to say, quickly taking the bouquet and closing the door behind her. She couldn’t help but marvel at the beautiful irises and lavender blooms. The romantic hues of purple must have been Principal Harman’s gift.
Inwardly, she couldn’t help but feel sorry for Greyson. He was such a remarkable man who possessed power, influence, wealth, and status. Yet, Milton seemed to hold the upper hand. She felt torn on behalf of Candice, who was caught in the middle of two exceptional men!
Candice sank into her chair, firing up her computer.
She delved into the digital archives, unearthing documents associated with the demise of her parents. Meanwhile, her gaze landed on the vintage account books and other records that Greyson had delivered.
Candice inhaled deeply. She had been swamped with Corless’ and his sister’s cases recently, seemingly neglecting her personal matters. Her pursuit of the truth behind her parents’ tragic accident had been put on hold. If it hadn’t been for Greyson constantly reminding her of the past, she would have really overlooked the hurt from before. A pang of guilt washed over Candice. She felt that she had betrayed her parents. It appeared that her pleasant times with Milton had allowed her to momentarily forget her past sorrows.

She needed to stay vigilant.
Candice then reached out to the medical examiner who had conducted her parents’ post-mortem.
She had connected with this medical examiner, responsible for her parents’ post-mortem, numerous times over the past three years. After several requests, he finally agreed to dig up all the information from the post-mortem and get back to Candice.
Candice had waited for a while and was about to reach out proactively.
Once the call connected, Candice said with respect, “Hello, Dr. Foster. This is Candice Blake. We’ve spoken before. Have you discovered anything new about my parents’ autopsy report from their car accident three years ago?”
“This isn’t Dr. Foster. You’ve reached the police department. I’m a detective from the major crimes division. Your name is Candice Blake, correct? What’s your connection with Dr. Foster?”
