Chapter 898
Chapter 901:
At that moment, the reason behind her restlessness became clear to Bettina. Witnessing Bart in distress didn’t bring her joy. Instead, it left her heartbroken. She realized that Candice had shown leniency towards Bart and avoided digging into this matter out of consideration for her feelings. Their friendship, built over many years, had given Candice a profound understanding of Bettina. Letting Bart go was a task too challenging for Bettina.
Noticing her silence, Bart inclined his head and tenderly placed a kiss on her lips. That sweet kiss sent a jolt of electricity coursing through Bettina’s body. At this point, Bart was gazing at her, his eyes filled with warmth. Slightly tipsy, Bettina found herself nodding unconsciously, “I would come with you.”
Bart, grinning, leaned in again. He looked exactly like the man she had first met. Bettina’s lashes fluttered nervously. As he came closer, she shut her eyes.
However, the anticipated kiss never came. Suddenly, Bettina’s eyes snapped open as she found Bart smirking at her, his voice dripping with mockery, “Ah, sweet Miss Reeves, you still have feelings for me. See, all it takes is a tiny gesture from me, and you’re ready to close your eyes.”
Gently caressing her chin, Bart added, “Why resist? Why not be my woman, stand by my side? Isn’t that better?”
Bettina’s face drained of color instantly, as she spat out, “Bastard, you deceived me…”
“I didn’t deceive you.” Bart shook his head, correcting her. “I just wanted to see if you really love me. Don’t use Raul as a shield. I won’t buy it. Look at yourself, such a pathetic little thing.”
As he pulled her closer, Bart’s hot breath brushed her face. “I could eat you up. Join me tonight, won’t you? I can’t wait any longer.”
Bettina retorted furiously, “Fuck off! No way!”
Pinned at her upper body, she lashed out with her legs.
Bart pinned her against the wall and said, “I’m just kidding, wild kitten. I have a pressing engagement tonight. It’s very important. I can’t be with you. We’ll meet another time.”

He planted a kiss on her lips and nipped at the corner in an unexpected move.
He cautioned, “Don’t let him touch you. Baby, exercise some patience. Once I have everything in order, I’ll get you back.”
With that, he released Bettina, turned around, and was ready to leave. Bettina gripped his arm, demanding, “Bart, your plan has been uncovered. What more do you seek?”
“Really? Are you concerned for me?” Bart grinned, a mix of scorn and smugness. “You’re worrying over nothing. This isn’t a big deal. I acknowledge your friend Candice’s competence. But you’re oversimplifying matters.”
He whispered into Bettina’s ear, “Do you honestly believe I acted alone? You pretty little idiot, the show just begins.”
A sense of shock washed over Bettina, her eyes widening.
What was he implying? He wasn’t the main culprit? Or did he have an accomplice? Was there a puppet master pulling the strings?
