Chapter 717
Chapter 717:
Hearing those words, she swiftly turned around. She refuted, “You got it wrong!” She wished to clarify that Milton, having embarked on a business trip, wouldn’t return until tomorrow morning. Yet, she withheld her words, knowing they wouldn’t buy it.
The others erupted in laughter. Someone playfully nudged Candice towards the door and winked at her.
“Go on then. Make your way home. No explanations are required. We all understand. You must always heed your boyfriend’s beck and call!”
“Ha-ha!” Laughter filled the air, and a few joyful people rocked back and forth, making their laughter echo even louder.
Even Mona, who usually kept to herself, couldn’t resist joining in the laughter.
Candice’s expression turned gloomy, and she felt utterly lost for words to convey her thoughts clearly. With a heavy heart, she found herself coerced into leaving, making it challenging for her to alter her statement and agree willingly to sing, as it would seem intentional and like a cover-up.
Caught in her awkward stance, she remained still.
Bettina approached and offered Candice a gentle pat. “I can’t escort you home. Perhaps you could ring Jarrod to come fetch you?”
“No need for that. I’ll just take a cab,” Candice responded. Bettina had initially assured her a ride home, but with the spontaneous karaoke plan in motion, it was only fair for Candice to sort her return.
“Alright. Travel safe,” Bettina concurred.
“Goodbye. See you at the law office tomorrow.” With farewells shared, Candice made her way towards the entrance.
When she reached the hall, she identified some familiar faces around. They appeared to be upper-level executives from the Royal Garden Corporation, seemingly also dining at the venue.
Amongst the group, she recognized a few who had previously assisted her with paperwork for the acquisition of Warren Building Materials.

Upon noticing Candice, they rose to their feet and greeted, “Miss Blake, how unexpected. Are you dining here too?”
Candice responded with a courteous nod.
She didn’t linger, opting instead to make a swift exit. They weren’t her companions, after all.
A few steps into her walk, their hushed conversations reached her ears. It was unclear if they intended for her to overhear. Regardless, she managed to catch their words clearly.
“Isn’t that the famed Miss Blake? To witness her charm firsthand, she truly is stunning. Not to mention her radiant skin. And her figure leaves nothing to be desired. Such beauty and allure, she truly embodies perfection,” a man said.
“Who do you think you are, making fun of Mr. Lopez’s girl? Do you want to lose your job?” the other man responded.
“But I’m dying to get her laid!” the first man said.
His words sent the others spiraling into laughter.
