Chapter 703
Chapter 703:
“Yes, that’s right,” Candice replied, her lips curling into a smirk. “Sigrid Olson happened to be Milton’s senior in college. Their families have been friends for generations.” Bettina was at a loss for words.
She started piecing together the reason behind Sigrid’s visit to Candice.
“I’ll accompany you,” she offered, taking a step forward, which was the least she could do for her friend.
“No need for concern. I’ve got this under control. Everything will turn out fine,” said Candice, stopping Bettina in her tracks. With a smile, she exited Bettina’s office, closing the door behind her.
Upon reaching the front hall, she spotted Sigrid, her back to the entrance, exuding the grandeur of a queen.
Sigrid, hearing movement behind her, said in a tone dripping with sarcasm, “Ah, it’s not exactly a sprawling law firm, is it? Quite plain indeed. Compared to the leading law firms abroad, this one falls significantly short of sophistication and experience.”
The receptionist’s hands balled into fists, her face awash with irritation. She turned to Candice with a look of distress.
Candice signaled the receptionist to return to her desk and refrain from further comments.
“What brings you here?” Candice approached Sigrid from behind, choosing to ignore her sarcastic remark. Hearing the sound, Sigrid swiveled around, lips parting to reply.
However, upon sighting the cobalt velvet attire adorning Candice, she was struck dumb, her mouth agape. “You!” She pointed her finger at Candice’s dress and inquired, “Where did you find this?”
Candice cast a glance at her outfit. “And why should that concern you?”
Suddenly, Sigrid’s voice ascended in shock. “This attire is my creation! I labored relentlessly on the design sketch. Just two days ago, the initial model was crafted, and the final product was expedited only last night. Did you steal it? Or perhaps you plagiarized my design? I can’t believe it! I’ll take you to court!”

Candice looked at her dress anew. This was Sigrid’s work? She was aware that Sigrid was in Ploville, having been appointed the Royal Garden Corporation’s design director. Yet, she hadn’t anticipated that Milton would provide her with a dress crafted by Sigrid.
Candice scowled, Sigrid’s accusations exceedingly severe. “I apologize, but this was gifted to me this morning. My job doesn’t intersect with yours. What reason would I have to steal your work? Miss Olson, please choose your words wisely. We are a law firm. Slander can be prosecuted as defamation.”
Sigrid’s face contorted in annoyance. “So you’re implying Milton sent someone to deliver this dress to you?”
Candice offered a noncommittal smile in response.
Fury was etched on Sigrid’s face. Milton had taken her prized work and draped it on Candice. Was he aware of the humiliation this would bring?
Unable to control her wrath, Sigrid lunged forward, intent on stripping Candice of the dress. “Remove it. You’re not worthy of my finest creation.”
