Chapter 790
Chapter 790:
No, she wouldn’t accept defeat.
“Oh, so what? Who forced me into being his personal attorney? Didn’t you have your own legal team? I have the funds to pay you back now. I don’t need you to cover my future legal costs,” Candice rebutted, seething with anger.
When he heard this, Milton’s face turned stormy. “Don’t forget, it was the Hope Law Firm that initially took up the human rights case. You were the one who stepped into my world. Now that you have my attention, you must see this to the end.”
Candice couldn’t help but laugh. “Are you sure? I was the one who stepped into your world?” She fearlessly pointed at Milton. “Perhaps you need to recall who was the one who drank…
“Excessively took the wrong pills, barged into my room, spoiled my wedding night, and destroyed my life trajectory?”
Milton’s irritation flared instantly at her words.
He rose abruptly from the couch, rage sparking in his dark eyes.
“I destroyed your life trajectory?”
Realizing she had crossed a line, Candice quickly placed a hand over her mouth in regret. Her intention had been to argue, not to reopen old wounds.
“What? Care to repeat that?” Milton advanced toward her.
Candice shook her head rapidly, refusing to repeat her statement.
“What is your life trajectory? Living with Greyson? Do you still miss him?”
Candice was stunned into silence. Why would Milton bring up Greyson? He was the last person on her mind.
Without warning, Milton seized her chin with his left hand.
“I heard Greyson still harbors the desire to reconcile with you. What did he tell you at the hospital?”
“He didn’t say anything about reconciliation,” Candice replied hastily. She backed away from him, but her legs gave out, nearly causing her to stumble.

Quick as a flash, Milton reached out and steadied her. With the momentum of the moment, Candice fell into his arms. Trying to avoid his chest, she placed her hand on his left shoulder instead.
In an unexpected twist, she ended up pushing him back onto the sofa, their bodies tangling in an awkward position.
Realizing she was now straddling Milton—and what that might imply—Candice let out a scream.
Candice yearned to escape Milton’s reach, but it was too late for such aspirations. Milton, in a swift motion, seized her chin, forcefully planted a kiss, and pulled her closer.
His kiss was a brutal retribution that left Candice spinning and gasping for air. Several times, she felt as if she would pass out. Just on the verge of losing consciousness, Milton would offer her a breath of air, reviving her. Candice experienced alternating extremes of heaven and hell under Milton’s control. Eventually, Milton withdrew from her lips.
Exhausted, Candice rested against his shoulder, breathing raggedly. A mere kiss had drained her of energy. Uncertain of how Milton would seek revenge if he fully recovered, Candice regretted her ease in provoking him.
