Chapter 946
Chapter 952:
At this moment, she was nothing short of a whirlwind of emotions. Seeking solace, she ventured to Milton’s apartment, the opulent Lopez family abode, and even to the grandiose Royal Garden Corporation, yet fortune did not favor her, for she didn’t find Milton. As the rain cascaded down on her car, she leaned weakly against the steering wheel, lost in her thoughts, unintentionally causing a loud horn to sound in the midst of her despair.
Her reverie was shattered by an unfamiliar phone call.
Hastily, she answered.
To her surprise, it was Elmo on the line.
“Candice? I know where Milton is. I’ll give you the address, though I can’t explain how I came to know. Trust me.”
Anxiety gripped her heart, and Candice implored, “Where is he? Tell me!”
“He’s at the suite on the 68th floor of the Orlanda Hotel, located at the boundary of Raleigh and Ploville,” Elmo replied. “Try to keep your cool no matter what happens next, okay? And feel free to contact me whenever you need assistance.”
Without a second thought, Candice hung up the phone.
Her mind was singularly focused on Milton’s safety. She had no time to ponder why he was at a hotel or what had brought him there in the first place.
With the GPS guiding her, she floored the gas pedal, racing through the rain to reach the Orlanda Hotel.
The storm seemed to mirror the tempest within her, lightning flashing like angry white swords in the dark sky, and the mist added an air of despondency. The deafening thunder grew louder, more menacing.
But she hadn’t even taken a second to pack the car. Undeterred, she dashed into the hotel, her soaked figure a testament to her determination.
Unmindful of her own condition, she ascended to the 68th floor, where a single suite stood in isolation, its imposing wooden doors exuding a luxurious aura.
The carpet beneath her feet was veiled in a tapestry of intricate Persian patterns, absorbing the cascade of droplets from her drenched body.

In her fervor, she pounded the doors with all her might.
Her hands eventually became numb from all the pounding, and each second felt like an eternity in her anguished wait.
At last, the doors creaked open, revealing the enigmatic figure she needed to see.
It was Milton. She could never forget his face, etched into her heart like an indelible masterpiece.
Clad in a bathrobe, he appeared as though he had just emerged from the shower. His collar was teasingly open, exposing a hint of his chest. Candice’s mind became a turbulent tempest, incapable of reason. She was oblivious to the questions of why he was there and why he was dressed so. All that mattered was the relief that washed over her, knowing he was safe.
Her defenses crumbled, and she could barely stand, relying on the door for support.
Her pallid countenance and quivering purple lips betrayed the overwhelming excitement within her. “Thank goodness. You’re safe. I’ve been so worried.”
