Chapter 269
Chapter 269:
Candice stared at him. It seemed he genuinely just wanted to help her hit the ball properly. What on earth had she been thinking? Damn it! Was she being presumptuous? What was wrong with her? Why did she keep thinking Milton was flirting with her all the time?
Candice shook her head hard to clear her wild thoughts. She then focused and swung the club with her corrected posture.
The sound of the club striking the ball echoed through the room.
Candice had finally succeeded in hitting the golf ball. The simulation showed the ball flying upward in an arc before falling.
“Yay! Not bad,” Bettina cheered, clapping her hands.
Candice breathed a sigh of relief. However, she had been dragging their score down for too long and had already wasted three strokes. As she returned to Bettina’s side, she felt her legs turn soft and weak. She felt as if she was about to collapse.
Bettina looked at her confused and asked, “Candy, why is your face so red? And why are you sweating? It’s just a ball, isn’t it?”
Candice felt tongue-tied.
She glanced at Milton, silently blaming him in her heart. However, he acted as if nothing had happened.
She was the only one whose heart was pounding rapidly, whose cheeks were flushed, and whose back was sweating. What on earth was wrong with her? How could she be so affected by him?
Cathy and Alta were well aware of the interaction between Candice and Milton. In fact, their eyes burned with jealousy as they watched the two.
Why would Milton personally teach Candice how to play golf?
Alta gripped the corner of her shirt tightly until it creased. Milton and Candice were so close; she wished she could be Candice. She gritted her teeth in hatred.
Cathy was also seething with rage. She wanted to embarrass Candice, yet she had succeeded in the opposite. She hadn’t expected Milton to close the distance between Candice and himself. How could she not be angry?

Meanwhile, Bettina was still oblivious to the tension. She handed a bottle of water to Candice and said casually, “Here, drink some water.”
Candice took the bottle and tried to twist it open.
However, her palm was too sweaty, and the cap slipped several times.
Milton noticed her struggle, took the bottle from her, and effortlessly opened it with a slight twist.
He then handed the bottle back to her.
Candice hesitated before taking it. Feeling overheated, she quickly drank half the bottle.
As she was about to set it down, Milton took the bottle from her hand.
He finished the rest of the water before gracefully tossing the empty bottle into the trash can.
