Chapter 541
Chapter 541:
Simultaneously, he displayed his number card to everyone. “I really did get picked! I’m so lucky. I can’t even believe it.”
Cathy also clapped her hands, exclaiming,
“Congratulations, brother!”
Corless then rushed to the stage, prepared to accept the honor.
Suddenly, a cold, determined female voice rang out.
“Wait! I believe that someone cheated in today’s draw.” The voice belonged to Candice.
The award ceremony was abruptly interrupted, causing the host to stare at Candice in surprise. What was going on?
Meanwhile, Corless, standing on the stage eagerly awaiting his prize, appeared disheartened. He gazed at Candice, sensing a faint familiarity but unable to recall where they had crossed paths before.
A tinge of guilt washed over him. Who was this woman? How dare she disrupt his well-laid plans?
When Cathy, who was sitting in the front row and watching the entire awarding process, heard a familiar voice from behind, she swiftly turned around.
To her astonishment, it was Candice, standing up and claiming foul play. Her shock quickly transformed into anger.
The host inquired, “Who are you? What did you just say? Are you saying that someone cheated in today’s draw?”
“It doesn’t matter who I am. Someone must have cheated in today’s draw!” Candice responded with utmost seriousness.
Cathy pointed accusingly at Candice and hurled insults. “You bitch! What nonsense are you spouting? It’s none of your business that my brother is going to be the Charity Spokesperson of the Year. When did you see any cheating in the draw? Just shut up!”
The host intervened, providing clarification. “Miss, you are entitled to question the outcome of today’s draw. However, as you can see, each guest who made a donation received a corresponding number card, and the corresponding numbered ball was placed into the box. We have shown everyone that there are no hidden compartments in the box. The drawing was personally conducted by the director of the welfare home, under the supervision of the entire audience. It was impossible to cheat, as she randomly selected the numbered ball. Do you have a personal conflict with this gentleman? If so, please resolve it privately without disrupting our charity event. Thank you.”

“That’s hilarious!” Candice sneered. “We have no personal grudge. I just witnessed the director of the welfare home returning ball No. 56 to the box. Since you insist that the drawing is fair, are you brave enough to let me give it a try? Let’s see if I can draw ball No. 56 again.”
After Candice finished speaking, the director appeared a bit nervous. Though unable to hear, she could roughly understand Candice’s words by watching her lip movements. Helplessly, she fidgeted with her hands.
Cathy desperately wanted to charge forward and confront Candice, but with so many people around, it would be absurd if she did.
