The farther she stayed from him, the better.
“It’s none of your business.”
Suddenly, a clear male voice came from behind Candice. It was Milton.
With one arm, Milton pulled Candice behind him, his protective stance evident.
Bart grinned at the scene before him. “Milton, why are you so nervous? I’m not going to hurt her, you know. And besides, am I not allowed to be interested in the woman you’re interested in?”
“I don’t think you dare!” Milton retorted, anger flashing in his eyes.
Bart ignored Milton’s outburst and instead turned his attention to Candice. “Pretty lawyer, I’ve heard about the great thing you did just now. You’ve helped the group a lot. Can I have the honor of treating you to a meal to express my gratitude?”
Before Candice could respond, Milton took action. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her away. “In your dreams. Stay away from her.”
With that, Milton dragged Candice into his office and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.
Candice had already planned to leave the Royal Garden Corporation. She had accomplished everything she had come here to do.
However, she found herself being brought into Milton’s office. Once the door was closed, Milton’s expression turned serious. “Don’t talk to him.”
Candice nodded.
She had no intention of speaking to Bart, especially not after what he had done to Bettina.
But she tried to recall when and where she had smelled the familiar fragrance on Bart.
Suddenly, it hit her. It was on her wedding night.
The memory was crystal clear in her mind. It was after the wedding ceremony, and she had been busy entertaining the guests when she suddenly felt dizzy. To catch her breath, she decided to head upstairs and wait for Greyson there.

As she walked down the corridor, just like today, she collided head-on with a man.
What was even more surprising was that he had the same perfume scent that she had smelled earlier.
Unfortunately, the corridor was poorly lit, and being the bride, she felt too embarrassed to make eye contact with the stranger. Instead, she quickly apologized and scurried away into the elevator.
It was hard to believe, but could Bart have actually shown up at her wedding? How could that be possible? After all, she didn’t even know him before, and neither did Greyson. Bettina had been absent from the wedding due to her issues with Greyson, making it impossible for her to have come with Bart that day.
As far as she could remember, the corridor was a direct path to the elevator, so there was no way anyone else could have been there, other than the guests—unless she was hallucinating or had lost her memory.
Why would Bart appear at her wedding when he was nothing but a stranger?
