Chapter 241
Chapter 241:
Candice declined. “No, thanks. I don’t think it deserves a celebration. Please thank your brother for me, though.”
“You’re welcome. My brother is practically your brother too! It’s an honor for him to do something for you.”
“Betty, when can I invite your brother out for dinner?” Candice lowered her voice as she spoke.
She noticed the door of the opposite apartment open. Since it was a public area, she didn’t want to disturb anyone during her call.
As a new resident, Candice hesitated about whether to greet her neighbor or avoid him for the time being.
But it was too late to react.
The neighbor had already pushed the door wide open. The person who emerged left Candice in shock.
For a moment, she thought she was hallucinating or her vision was blurry.
Meanwhile, Bettina’s voice echoed through the phone. “Hello? Candy, can you hear me? Is there no signal? Hello?”
Candice shook her head hard, realizing it wasn’t an illusion. It was really him!
In a daze, she loosened her grip, and the phone slipped from her hand, falling to the floor.
With swift action, Milton bent down and caught Candice’s phone just before it hit the floor.
Handing it back, he raised his long, narrow eyebrows slightly, silently urging her to continue the call. Crossing his arms, he watched her with a leisurely gaze.
Stunned for a moment, Candice gathered her thoughts and asked Bettina, with Milton still present, “Bettina, I was having trouble with the signal earlier. Let me ask you something. Does your brother work with the Royal Garden Corporation?”
“It’s impossible to avoid the Royal Garden Corporation in real estate,” Bettina replied, puzzled. “Of course, we have a partnership with them. Why do you ask?”
“I’m curious. I wonder how your brother gets along with Milton. Are they friends?” Candice asked, raising her head and casting a cold glance at Milton.

“Friends?” Bettina considered for a moment. “I’m not sure. Should I ask my brother? Is something wrong? Oh, now that I think about it, they probably are friends. When your situation with Mr. Lopez was exposed online, he asked my brother to help manage it.”
“Okay, got it. Bye.” Candice ended the call.
So, Bettina’s brother, Hank Reeves, must have a special connection with Milton, Candice thought. Maybe he informed Milton about her move.
That explained why Milton had moved into the apartment across from hers.
Candice connected the dots quickly.
Just as she was about to confront Milton, he asked, “What are you doing here?”
Peering inside her apartment, he added, “Is this your friend’s place? Are you visiting someone?”
