Chapter 1010
Chapter 1019:
In the stillness of her room, her phone abruptly rang.
Fully awake, she instinctively reached for it on the bedside table. A message from Bart was displayed before her eyes, and shock coursed through her veins.
“I have something to tell you. Come see me, or you will regret it for the rest of your life!”
Below the message, a location pin indicated that Bart was currently at the Crystalmarsh Hotel.
Bettina was all too familiar with that hotel. Bart had once given her a room card for room 8080 on the top floor.
Anger surged within her, and she hurled the phone back onto the bedside table.
Why should she succumb to Bart’s threats any longer? She made a conscious choice to ignore his message.
Yet, despite her resolve, sleep still eluded her.
She continued to toss and turn until her body was drenched in sweat. Suddenly, she sat up in bed, realizing that ignoring Bart might not be the wisest action. She couldn’t predict what this man might do. With determination, Bettina got up, put on casual clothes and a jacket, and opened her door as quietly as possible.
Raul’s room, diagonally across the hallway, remained closed. The living room lay in darkness, with only the cold moonlight streaming through the windows.
She tiptoed to the front door, striving to avoid making a sound. Yet, she accidentally kicked a trash can in the darkness, producing a loud noise.
Bettina hastily crouched down and held the trash can, her heart racing.
She then cast a furtive glance at Raul’s door.
Thankfully, Raul remained asleep, undisturbed by the noise.
She breathed a sigh of relief, silently slipped out, and gently shut the door.

At the exit of the Sunset Apartment, the late hour meant the streets were nearly deserted, with only a few cars speeding past.
Bettina hailed a taxi and headed straight to the Crystalmarsh Hotel. The hotel was quite a distance away, and it took her 40 minutes to get there.
Upon arrival, Bettina hesitated momentarily and checked her phone, but no new messages from Bart appeared.
She couldn’t help but question her decision to come here. Why should she be afraid of Bart?
Despite her doubts, she couldn’t resist the urge to proceed to room 8080 on the hotel’s top floor.
The hotel corridor exuded opulence, with plush carpeting and double doors adorned with fine wood. Even the door lock featured advanced electronic technology.
Bettina extended her hand to ring the doorbell but halted mid-action.
