Chapter 1011
Chapter 1020:
This surrender to Bart’s beckoning felt absurd.
With a sudden change of heart, she turned around to leave.
But just as she spun on her heel, the door behind her creaked open. “Since you’re here, why don’t you come in?”
A deep, menacing voice sent shivers down her spine. Goosebumps spread across her skin, and her scalp prickled with unease.
There was no turning back now.
Bettina turned around to face Bart but avoided making eye contact. “What do you want to tell me? Say it here, and then I’ll go.”
A sinister, malevolent smile curled at the corners of Bart’s lips.
“What I have to say is best spoken in bed,” he retorted, seizing her by the arm and forcefully pulling her into the room.
With a resounding thud, the door slammed shut behind them.
After their intimate encounter, Bart rose from the bed and slipped into a black night robe. His entire being radiated a sense of calm contentment.
He decided to pour himself a glass of wine from the nearby bar counter. The dark purple liquid in the glass seemed to hold a captivating aura. Returning to the bed, he gazed down at Bettina, who was nestled in a corner of the bed. Her eyes were misty, and her lips appeared slightly swollen. There was a hint of apprehension in her vacant stare. Earlier, he had been somewhat unrestrained because he noticed a bit of redness on her lips, as though she had been kissed. This realization had stirred such jealousy within him that he lost control of himself.
Sitting on the bedside, he gently comforted her, “What’s the matter? Does it still ache? Would you like a massage?”
Bettina hastily bundled herself up in the quilt, avoided him, and yelled in a raspy voice, “Leave me alone!”

Regret flooded her thoughts. She had been naive and had come to his doorstep only to be abused and mistreated.
Bart’s expression grew grim as he cautioned, “You’d be wise not to provoke me. I was in a nice mood. If you irritate me, there will be consequences.”
Bettina sat up on the bed, crumpling the sheet beneath her. “Since you asked me here, don’t let my coming be in vain. I want to know why you asked me to come.”
He gently twirled the wine in his glass and took a sip. “Would you fancy a glass of wine?”
“No, thanks,” Bettina replied with an expressionless face. She glanced at the clock. It was already 4 a.m. Exhausted as she was, she wanted to leave right away. However, before doing so, she needed to gather some valuable information.
“I’ve heard you’re having a splendid time at Royal Garden Corporation. Have you obtained what you were after?” she inquired tentatively.
