Chapter 1018
Chapter 1027:
Why was he so fixated on power that he felt the need to deceive her and take advantage of her?
Raul tenderly patted her back and comforted her, “It’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself for this. Don’t dwell on the past.”
But it was always easier said than done. Bettina smiled bitterly. She was the only one who knew that it was far from over.
In fact, it was just the beginning.
Suddenly, she lifted her head and gazed into Raul’s eyes.
Raul’s eyes were crystal-clear and honest, completely devoid of any impurities.
He was truly a straightforward person.
His soul was pure, unlike hers.
Observing her intense gaze, Raul had a subtle inkling of what was coming.
Sure enough, Bettina said softly, “Raul, I think we should end our relationship.”
Raul’s gaze darkened as he heard Bettina’s confession.
Bettina turned her eyes away and said with guilt, “I’m sorry. I told you I’d be your girlfriend, but I only used you as a shield. I’m not ready yet, and I haven’t resolved my past issues. It’s my fault.”
Raul held his breath, choosing not to respond.
Bettina paused and clutched the edge of his collar with a serious expression. “If I can move forward one day, and you’re available, then we’ll spend the days together, okay?”
Raul took a deep breath, and a gentle smile suddenly appeared on his face. He gently reached out and tousled her hair. “Okay, fine by me,” he said softly. In an effort to ease her concerns, he reassured her, “Don’t worry. I’ll talk to your brothers. I’ll tell them that I haven’t made up my mind about marriage and that I want to enjoy life a bit more. The worst that can happen is them giving me a good beating.”

Suddenly, Bettina couldn’t contain her emotions any longer. She broke into tears and embraced Raul. “I’m so sorry. I’m really sorry.” She felt she had let Raul down and failed Candice’s wishes.
But she knew she had to rise from this setback, no matter what.
Raul wrapped his arms around Bettina, aware that he could no longer embrace her in this way. He gently bent down and placed a tender kiss on her forehead.
“Even if we can’t be a couple, we can still be great friends. If you ever need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to me, alright?”
“Alright,” Bettina replied, tears welling up as she nuzzled her face against his chest.
Raul lifted her and carried her to the bathroom. “No need for tears. I’ve always known you as a strong soul. If you keep crying, people might get the wrong idea. Freshen up. You look like a lost kitten I found outside.”
