Chapter 1026
Chapter 1036:
The entire meeting room fell into a hushed silence, the attendees stunned by the abrupt turn of events.
They hadn’t anticipated that the Royal Garden Corporation would become a target of ICIF, the renowned Consortium Hunter. Uncertainty hung heavy in the room.
Observing Candice’s departure with her team, Raul had the urge to pull Milton aside and inquire.
However, Anson was quicker on the draw. He grasped Milton and asked straightforwardly, “Mr. Lopez, what just happened? Isn’t Candice your significant other? How did things take this turn?”
Boden, too, fell in line and added his voice, saying, “Indeed, Mr. Lopez, something felt amiss when you and Candice parted ways a year ago. What’s going on? Have you two become adversaries? I don’t intend to criticize. We’re all in support of your union with the Olson family’s daughter.”
“However, it’s crucial to handle your personal matters adeptly. It’s not unusual for a man to have affairs on the side, but the key is to manage them discreetly and avoid creating any complications.”
Anson’s brow furrowed deeply, and he let out a heavy sigh. “Mr. Lopez, are you truly hearing me out? This is the ICIF we’re talking about. It’s a big deal.” Anson was on the brink of anxiety. The situation had escalated to a critical level. While most companies engaged in some shady dealings, they simply couldn’t withstand an ICIF investigation.
The Joint International Financial Crimes Investigation Team bore a fearsome reputation, and this was like inviting a hurricane into their lives.
Anson could almost visualize the plummeting stock prices and the staggering losses they’d incur.
Observing Milton’s continued silence only intensified his unease. “Mr. Lopez, remember, Candice once fell for you. You should take some time to appease her and maybe offer her a generous settlement to convince her to become your mistress. Shower her with gifts, spend more quality time with her, and see if this issue can be resolved. We’ve all witnessed Candice’s prowess. We can ill afford her as an adversary.”

“Be my mistress?” Milton couldn’t help but scoff. Until this point, he hadn’t paid much heed to the chatter of these high-ranking executives, recognizing them as fickle opportunists.
What a ridiculous thought! The notion of making Candice a mistress was not just absurd; it was a grave insult. The idea was so ludicrous that Milton had not anticipated such a suggestion from them.
Clearly, these men were motivated solely by their financial interests. They were unwilling to forfeit the privileges and wealth that came with an alliance with the Olson family, and they dreaded any retaliation from Candice. Their aspirations to have it both ways were nothing more than a pipe dream.
“Ah, I’ve got a suggestion! Perhaps you can go overseas and grant her a prominent status. After all, Mr. Lopez, you and she once had a great time together. Move swiftly to mend the situation. We mustn’t allow things to turn unsavory. It could affect everyone’s interests,” Boden interjected.
