Chapter 47:
Outside the four glass windows were towering skyscrapers, bridges, and flying structures. Trees on the distant mountain were lush and green, adding a sense of grandeur to the scene. The peak of the mountain was permanently covered in snow, its silver light gleaming. The landscape served as a vast backdrop, highlighting the city’s majestic setting. The breathtaking view of the mountain could be seen in its entirety from this vantage point.
As the sun streamed in, the whole office was bathed in its magnificent golden luster. It was stunning and surreal.
Milton sat down on the sofa and crossed his legs. “I’m going to hire you as my personal attorney.”
“What? Really?” Raul said in disbelief, thinking Milton was joking.
Candice raised her hand and protested, her gorgeous eyes wide open, “I’m sorry, Mr. Lopez…”
Milton cut her off, saying, “I wasn’t asking for your opinion.”
The shock on Candice’s face was clear. He wasn’t asking for her opinion?
That meant she couldn’t say no, right?
She had never come across a more intimidating man.
“I heard Miss Reeves from Hope Law Company was in charge of taking on cases, wasn’t she?” Milton asked Raul.
“Yeah. The transactional lawyer takes on the cases, while the professional lawyer handles the litigation.”
“Give her a call and see if she’s interested in taking on this case right now,” Milton commanded immediately.
Candice was speechless.
“Okay.” Raul then pulled out his phone and called Bettina in their presence.
Bettina picked up shortly after.
Raul stepped away to take the call. After he was done, he returned to Milton’s side.
With a brow raised, Milton waited for Raul to speak.
Raul, with a bewildered expression on his face, said, “The personal attorney’s yearly wage, per Bettina, will be five million dollars, cases not included. The contract will be sent here in five minutes. The personal attorney will be available for you day and night.”
What the heck was going on here? Raul wondered.
Milton glanced at Candice and shrugged. “It’s a deal. Candy, I hope you and I have a great time working together.”

Again, no words came from Candice’s mouth.
Her mind couldn’t come up with something to say.
How could Bettina possibly agree to that? She had sold Candice for such an excellent sum.
What was most despicable was that Milton hadn’t even bothered to get her permission.
After some time, Candice inquired, “So, Mr. Lopez, where do we start?”
Milton lifted his wrist and checked the time. “Tonight, I have to attend a party. Accompany me and assist me in selecting a partner for the development of the new golf course.”
Candice spoke after a brief silence. “I am an attorney, not a secretary, Mr. Lopez. Are you really going to make me attend a private party with you? I’m afraid that cannot be included in my work.”
At this moment, Raul’s iPad rang.
Milton then pointed to Raul’s iPad and said, “That must be the contract. Check it out.”
Raul opened the contract that Bettina had sent him on his iPad.
It looked like Bettina had anticipated this and was ready. If not, she wouldn’t have drafted the contract so quickly.
Raul gave it a cursory glance.
He was quite astonished.
“Should I read it for you?” Raul asked.
“Yeah, of course.” As Milton spoke, he flipped his sleeve. Raul proceeded to read it aloud.
“To start, Party B will be available whenever needed. If Party A requests it, Party B is required to stay the night and cannot refuse. Second, Party B’s job includes, but is not limited to, all work and life trifles. Party B will attend all parties with Party A, as well as meetings, traveling, shopping…”
“Visiting hot springs, dining… Finally, Party B must not initiate the termination of the contract, and Party A shall cancel and explain the contract at his own will.”
Candice couldn’t fathom what was going on right now!
Bettina had to be crazy, she thought.
Even Milton was at a loss for words.
He had underestimated its outrageousness.
Raul had reached a point where he felt he couldn’t continue reading.
This seemed to be an indenture, not a private attorney’s contract!
