Chapter 56

Chapter 56:
Everyone around started whispering among themselves, throwing dirty looks at Candice.
Milton felt that he couldn’t stay there any longer.
But he couldn’t leave Candice by herself either.
He was afraid she would do something even more outrageous. So, he decided to lift her up in his arms.
They couldn’t stay at the hotel anymore, so they had to go to his home.
Once Candice’s mouth was free, she grabbed Milton by the collar with both hands and shouted, “Quick! Take off your pants, too! Now!”
At that moment, Milton was completely embarrassed. While holding her in his arms, he couldn’t cover her mouth to stop her from screaming.
He couldn’t drop her either.
Under the watchful eyes of so many people, he hurried back to his car with her in his arms.
Damn it! Milton swore that he would never let Candice drink again if she acted like this when intoxicated.
He was losing his mind!
Finally, they arrived at his house. The entire trip home felt like a journey through a torture chamber.
After parking the car, Milton wrapped one of Candice’s arms around his shoulder and placed a hand on the small of her back. He supported her all the way to the front door. He was about to unlock the door with his fingerprint, but then she pushed him away, staggered toward the door, and steadied herself against it.
“Let me do it.”
She tried unlocking the door several times but failed.
Frustrated, she raised her hands, banged on the door, and shouted, “Open sesame! Let us in! I command you to open for us right now! If you don’t, you’re dead meat! I will sue you for everything you have and throw you in jail!”
Hearing that, Milton laughed.
This drunk lady in front of him was so cute.
They had only met a few times, but she kept surprising him with her different sides.
If he hadn’t seen her drunk, he wouldn’t have realized how adorable she actually was.
Finally, he unlocked the door with his fingerprint.
The door swung open.
Candice almost fell, so he hurriedly caught her again.
He helped her into the house and gently set her down on the sofa in the living room.

Candice lay on the cushions, her long hair cascading down to the floor like a soft, enchanting waterfall.
Milton stood up to go to the kitchen to get her a glass of water.
Suddenly, she grabbed his arm.
“Don’t go.”
For a woman under the influence of alcohol, she was surprisingly strong.
He wasn’t expecting her to hold him so tightly, and he lost his balance, falling onto the sofa beside her.
Afraid she might fall off, he held her in his arms.
He was startled by the softness of her body.
The delicate touch made him lose focus.
At that moment, Candice put one hand on Milton’s shoulder.
She grasped his collar with the other.
“Do you find me pretty?” she asked.
In a daze, Milton nodded.
“I do. I think you’re beautiful.”
She truly was. She had the kind of captivating face one only saw in old paintings.
Her eyes had the rich shade of autumn in full bloom, shining beneath thick, dark eyelashes.
Her lips…
Her lips were like vermilion flowers that effortlessly invited admiration. Even though she was drunk out of her mind, she looked like an angel.
She was breathtaking.
“Do you think I’m a good person?” she asked again, this time with expectation in her eyes.
Enchanted, he answered quickly, “I do.”
She was morally upright, independent, smart, and observant. Every time he saw her, he felt different feelings.
Candice continued, “Didn’t I treat you well?”
Hearing that, Milton was speechless.
He didn’t know what to say.
He had a sneaking suspicion that that question wasn’t directed at him.
At this moment, Candice’s eyes glazed over, as if she was looking through Milton at another man.
And that made Milton unhappy.
“You’re drunk,” he said in an icy tone. “Do you even recognize me?”
