Candice still didn’t know what to say.
She stood up and said to Bettina, “Let’s go to another store.”
Bettina patted Candice gently and looked at her with a knowing smile. “The Royal Garden Corporation has this famous slogan. Have you heard of it?”
“No, I haven’t. What is it?” Candice looked back at her friend and waited for the answer.
“‘Where there are people, there will inevitably be a Royal Garden.’ You really haven’t heard of their tagline? Unbelievable.” Bettina shrugged and continued, “There’s so much you don’t know, my dear. The Royal Garden Corporation is a massive commercial entity, and under Milton’s control, it has expanded greatly. Its business includes malls, supermarkets, catering services, electronics…”

Hearing that, Candice couldn’t help but frown.
She returned the clothes to the shop assistant and took back her card.
“I don’t want these. Let’s go.”

They were Cathy from Warren Building Material and Alta from Brenton Wood.
They happened to see Candice returning the clothes to the shop assistant.
Cathy immediately jeered, “Oh my God, look, Candice just handed back the clothes. Can’t she afford them?”
“Well, if she can’t afford them, then she shouldn’t try them on and mess them up,” Alta added.
Candice didn’t want to waste her time on them. She grabbed Bettina’s hand and was about to leave with her.
Bettina also knew the two awful women. She said in a mocking, singsong voice, “Damn it! Can you believe our luck, Candice? We’re in a mall, and we still step on two pieces of trash.”

Not daring to offend Bettina, she scoffed at Candice, “You can’t afford these clothes? Why? Did Mr. Lopez finally decide to dump you? I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. Like I said, Mr. Lopez would never fall in love with a lowly woman like you.”
Last time at Wilmint High School, Candice slapped Cathy hard across the face. Cathy wanted to slap Candice back, but Milton stopped her.
Cathy’s family, like every other wealthy family in the city, hoped to cooperate with the Royal Garden Corporation one day. If she offended Milton by hurting Candice, she might as well kiss that hope goodbye. But this time, she couldn’t hold back her anger. She needed to vent.
