Chapter 204

Chapter 204:
What if he passed out from shock or fainted?
She got up, went to the door, and stuffed two slippers into the gap. She worried that no one would answer the door when she came back with the medicine. She had no idea what the lock’s combination was.
Milton’s home was in the most peaceful part of the city. The courtyard was located on a hill and covered a large area. The path from the main house to the gate was lined with priceless trees on both sides, creating a cool, shady environment. The gate was guarded by a security guard as well.
Once through the iron gate, one would find themselves near the bottom of the hill where there were many stores.
Shortly after, Candice returned to Milton’s home with antipyretics and anti-inflammatory drugs.
The guard must have recognized her from her previous visit, as he let her through without incident. Instead, he bowed to her in deference.
Candice was perplexed. Seeing the security guard behave so politely made her wonder why. It seemed as if she was someone of significance there.
It wasn’t long before she reached the main house and entered the room.
Milton appeared to have fallen asleep at that very moment; his eyes were closed.
Candice set the pills down and poured a glass of water. She gently shook him to wake him up. “Don’t go to sleep. Take your medication.”
Milton, in a fever-induced haze, felt her slightly cold fingers touch his lips. He slowly opened his mouth, and several tablets popped in. He reflexively closed his mouth while the tips of Candice’s fingers were still in it.
Candice shuddered unconsciously when he had her fingers in his mouth.
The warmth, gentleness, and wetness were all too much for her, and she felt a burning sensation in her cheeks.
Just what on earth was this guy up to? She didn’t know how to respond to the intimacy.
She slowly removed her fingers, held his head gently, and brought the glass to his mouth.

Milton swallowed the medicine with the water and eventually fell back asleep.
After a short while, Candice was finally able to breathe steadily.
Sighing, she felt some pressure lift from her shoulders.
She looked around and saw his uncovered arm. An instant frown appeared on her face. He was injured in addition to having a fever. Candice spotted the first aid kit and pulled up his sleeve to check the bandage. The wound had been ripped open the night before. There was no way he could manage it on his own.
With that in mind, Candice removed the bandage. Clearly, he had not treated the wound properly.
She cleaned the wound again with alcohol, reapplied the powder, and carefully re-bandaged it.
To avoid leaving permanent scars, she was very cautious while cleaning.
Milton seemed to feel the discomfort during the treatment. He groaned once before falling back asleep.
