“Hi. Please delete the photos you’ve taken of him. According to the civil code, it’s an invasion of privacy and a violation of portrait rights to take a photo of someone for public release without that person’s permission. And according to the law, anyone who violates another person’s portrait rights shall be detained for a maximum of five days.”
Candice’s cold stare scared the hell out of the girls.
The group of girls stared at each other, panic evident on their faces. “What are you talking about? Are you trying to scare us?”
Candice sneered and responded, “Didn’t you hear me the first time? Or do you want me to call the police?”
Frightened, they shot threatening glares at Candice and reluctantly deleted their photos.
“Now, please clear the trash can of the photos you just deleted,” Candice ordered, her arms crossed. She looked cold and fierce, her gaze serious and intimidating. The girls had no choice but to clean up the trash can.
One of them, dressed in red, looked up at Candice with a disgruntled expression and asked, “Who are you anyway? Why are you intervening? He never said we couldn’t take photos of him.”
Candice quipped indifferently, “I’m his personal attorney. Do you have any other opinions to share? We can head to the police station and discuss it in detail.”
The girl’s face turned pale as fear quickly built up inside her. At that moment, the other girls in the group stood up and started pulling her away by her arm. “Let’s go somewhere else. Come on. We’re not wasting another second here.”
Despite their words, all their eyes were locked on Milton. He was so charming that they found it hard to accept they had to leave at all.
After they left, Candice returned to her seat and sincerely apologized to the stall owner, “I’m so sorry for interrupting your business. I’ll pay for those girls’ bill.”
The stall owner came over with a plate and reassured her, “Forget it. It’s no big deal. Come on, taste what I’ve made. I made these for myself. They’re not for sale.” As they conversed, the stall owner continued placing numerous plates of various dishes in front of Candice and Milton. These included pickled cucumbers, fried corn, braised soybeans, mashed potatoes, and even salad.
“Thank you,” Candice said with a warm smile.

Milton remained silent until then. He watched Candice easily dismiss the girls who had been secretly taking his photos. A strange feeling began to grow in his chest, like a tiny ember slowly turning into a warm flame.
Candice ignored him as she picked up a fork to eat. The familiar food was delicious and comforting.
Milton followed suit and took a fork in his hand. He suddenly asked, “Didn’t you mention you wanted to terminate our contract assigning you as my personal attorney? What convinced you to stay?”
He liked it when she defended him. He found himself beginning to become addicted to the feeling and couldn’t free himself from it.
Candice chewed on the braised soybeans, clearly satisfied. “It’s absolutely delicious. The taste never changes.”
