Chapter 238
Chapter 238:
But leaving would mean breaking the agreement she had with him and forfeiting the patent rights she wanted. It was a tough decision, but she didn’t want to beg Greyson to change his mind, nor did she want to be manipulated by him again.
Lying on her bed, she checked her phone.
After their dinner, Greyson had not called or messaged her. It was so like him.
Candice knew exactly why he was doing this. He had said he would wait for her to regret it and come crawling back to him.
She picked up the key from the bedside table, holding it in her hand, lost in thought.
Should she agree to Milton’s offer?
But if she did, how would she handle the lawsuit against him?
It was Milton who had made her life miserable, but it was also Milton who had saved her life when Madilyn had almost killed her the other day.
She couldn’t help but feel torn between her options.
If she called it even, should she withdraw the lawsuit?
At dinner earlier that night, Milton had come to her rescue, diffusing a tense situation and leaving first. Later, when he caught up with her, he didn’t bring up the drama and even joined her as they grabbed a bite at a roadside stall.
Candice couldn’t help but recall his words from the night before.
“You can trust me.”
But then, the comments online flooded her mind. Ugh. Damn it.
With a sigh, Candice buried her face in the pillow. Everything felt like a complete mess.
The next day,
Candice needed some breathing room to clear her head.
After a restless night, she found a solution.
Since it was the weekend, she took the opportunity to catch some much-needed sleep. When she opened her eyes, it was nearly ten in the morning.

Without wasting any time, she grabbed her phone and dialed Bettina’s number.
Bettina answered in a groggy voice, clearly not fully awake. “Hey, what’s up? It’s too early,” she complained.
“It’s already ten o’clock!” Candice reminded her.
“Ten o’clock? That’s still early for me. You know I don’t wake up until noon,” she grumbled and let out a loud yawn.
Candice couldn’t help but tease her friend. “I know, but it’s hard to believe,” she said with a chuckle.
Bettina was finally fully awake and asked, “So? What do you want? It better be important!”
“Betty, that high-end commercial residential building across from our law firm—your brother built it, right? It’s for rent only, not for sale. The offices are on the lower floors, and the residences are on the upper floors, managed separately. Am I right?” Candice asked.
