Chapter 242
Chapter 242:
Candice’s mouth twitched at Milton’s feigned ignorance. Angry, she replied, “Don’t play dumb, Milton. You know exactly what’s going on. You heard everything when I was on the phone with Bettina, didn’t you? It was Hank who told you I was moving here today, so you moved across from me in advance!”
Her cheeks flushed with anger, making her look exceptionally beautiful. “Milton, you’ve gone too far. Stop trying to force me to drop the lawsuit. You’ve exhausted all your tactics!”
Milton’s handsome face froze as Candice unleashed her scolding. She was ruthless in her accusations.
“You moved here?” Milton’s eyes were filled with disbelief.
Candice scoffed. “Are you still pretending? I can’t believe—”
Before she could finish, a man emerged from the opposite apartment. It was Raul.
He hadn’t noticed Candice yet as he called out to Milton from behind, “Milton, why are you still standing at the door? What are you doing here?”
Candice was left speechless.
What did this mean? Was this Raul’s place?
Could it be that this apartment was rented by Raul, and Milton had come to visit and coincidentally ran into her?
From what Candice knew, Raul didn’t want to return to the Hinks family villa and preferred to rent an apartment in the city center. It was entirely possible he lived here.
So maybe Milton wasn’t pretending after all.
Perhaps he genuinely didn’t know she had moved today.
Candice bit her lower lip, her face flushing with embarrassment.
She had misjudged him and scolded him unfairly.
Candice felt incredibly embarrassed.
At that moment, Raul fully noticed her and was surprised to see her.
“Candy, what are you doing here? Are you—”
He looked at Candice, then at Milton.
“Candy, are you moving in next door to me?”
Raul finally understood what was happening and was completely shocked.
Milton stood tall, casually leaning against the door with his arms crossed over his chest. He exuded an air of elegance and leisure, making him all the more charming.
His expression shifted from shock to stiffness, finally settling into a calm demeanor.
It turned out Candice had unexpectedly moved out of Greyson’s apartment and coincidentally ended up living right across from Raul. Milton couldn’t help but feel pleased by this twist of fate.
“Well… you know,” Candice began, her embarrassment evident in her tone, “the law office is right across the street, so it just made sense to move here. But uh, aren’t you leaving? Why are you still standing here?”
