Embarrassed, Braylen mustered an awkward smile and hurried away.
“Well, that guy sure just plays things by ear. Since he gets along with Cathy, he must be a bad apple, too,” Bettina remarked, pursing her lips as she watched Braylen’s retreating figure with disdain.
Candice laughed out loud. She couldn’t agree with Bettina more. After all, birds of a feather flock together.
Bettina stretched her arms and legs and said, “I’m officially feeling a lot better. I honestly thought the day was going to be ruined by the scum we ran into. But now that we’ve won, I feel happy.”
“Are you sure you’re okay now?” Candice asked worriedly, looking at Bettina.
“Of course,” Bettina said, patting her chest. “The scum isn’t worth stressing over.”
Seeing Bettina still pretending to be unbothered, Candice felt sorry for her. She guessed Bettina had been deeply hurt by Bart, so she decided to figure things out when she got the chance.
“Let’s go. Where are we going next?” Bettina asked excitedly.
Milton looked at his watch and asked, “Where do you want to have dinner? And after dinner, would you like to go shopping?”
“Sure! I…” Before Bettina could finish, Candice raised her hand to cover her mouth.
“We’re not going anywhere else. It’s time to go home,” Candice said, shaking her head.
Then she told Bettina, “Milton only has two meals a day, and he doesn’t eat dinner after lunch. You’ve already eaten a lot at noon. I don’t believe you’re hungry yet. Honestly, you could lose some weight. Enough, Betty. Let’s just go home. You still have work tomorrow, remember?”
Candice was afraid they really would go shopping after dinner.
She didn’t mind them having dinner together. She just found the shopping part horrible. The last time she went shopping with Milton, it felt like being forced to watch a long, boring fashion show where Milton endlessly tried on clothes and paraded them in front of her. She didn’t want a repeat of that awful experience.

Bettina blinked, unsure how to respond.
In the end, she only nodded with grievance, though she hadn’t had enough fun yet.
Walking out of the golf club, Candice, Milton, and Bettina saw Jarrod waiting for them.
“Where to next, Mr. Lopez?” Jarrod asked.
“Sunrise Apartment,” Milton replied directly without even raising his head.
Hearing that, Candice was stunned. She didn’t expect Milton to return to Raul’s apartment. Why wouldn’t he go back to his own home?
So she asked in confusion, “I didn’t see Raul this morning. Isn’t he home?”
Milton coughed to cover his nervousness and replied, “He went to Ockdale on a business trip last night. He’s responsible for the power and energy project we have there. He’ll probably be gone the whole month.”
Rolling her eyes, Candice asked again, “Okay. Since Raul isn’t home, why don’t you go back to your own house?”
