Her body temperature climbed higher and higher, as if she were running a fever. Milton was too good at flirting, and she was only human. There was only so much temptation she could resist.
After her shower, Candice took her time drying her hair. She didn’t stop until it was completely dry. Usually, she would blow dry it only briefly or just let it air dry.
But after recalling how Milton had accidentally helped her dry her hair last night, she decided to do it properly herself tonight.
It was those little acts of kindness that touched her. Ever since losing her parents, she had been lonely for so long. Warmth and tenderness were things she couldn’t resist.
Greyson had never offered her any comfort.
And Milton? Well, he wasn’t exactly on her side.
She had to stay vigilant.
As she emerged from the bathroom, a pleasant aroma caught her attention.
In the kitchen, Candice found Milton cooking noodles.
He had just showered and was now dressed in dark blue silk pajamas. His hair was still damp. It was no surprise that a man with mysophobia couldn’t wait to get clean. The indoor golf club had luxurious bathrooms. People usually showered after playing golf before heading out.
But since they hadn’t planned on playing golf before going out this morning, they hadn’t brought any extra clothes with them.
No wonder the first thing he did upon arriving home was take a shower. Candice realized she had been overthinking things earlier.
“Ahem.” Clearing her throat, she asked, “What are you doing?”
Milton had just finished cooking the noodles. He placed them in a bowl and said, “Like you, Raul only knows how to cook instant noodles. I found some frozen steak and cheese in his fridge, so I decided to make a bowl of noodles.”
Candice’s eyes caught a glimpse of instant noodle bags and seasonings in the trash can.
Milton had abandoned the seasoning packets and instead added the steak and cheese to the noodles.
The aroma of the dish was irresistible. It made her stomach rumble with hunger.
“Can I eat?”
After a tiring afternoon of golf, Candice was famished. Before Milton could answer, she snatched the bowl from his hand and placed it on the table. She picked up a fork and began devouring the delicious meal.
Milton poured the remaining noodles into another bowl. As he walked to her side, he gasped for breath, nearly spilling the soup in his bowl.
After her shower, Candice put on Milton’s shirt. She looked irresistibly tempting now, her long legs exposed. Milton burned with desire.
