Chapter 293
Chapter 293:
Just then, her phone beeped. She glanced at the screen and saw a new WhatsApp message from Milton.
She picked up her phone and opened the message.
It read, “Hi. Could you please help me check a personal document? It’s about a dispute in another city. What should I do?” Then, he sent a document.
Candice opened it and quickly reviewed it.
At that moment, Greyson said, “Candice, I spoke with a senior court leader. If we appear at their office and sign the paperwork together, we can get our marriage back—and keep our original wedding date. I’ve thought about it for a long time. I divorced you on impulse and didn’t consider the consequences carefully. Now I realize there are too many things to worry about. Divorcing was wrong. We can fix this.”
As Candice finished reading the case brief from Milton, she heard Greyson’s proposal to remarry. She flashed him a look of disbelief and confusion.
Greyson took her silence as a sign that she was moved. He smiled complacently, thinking she would agree to reinstate their marriage.
Just then, Candice received another message from Milton. She lowered her head and checked it under the table.
Milton’s new message read, “Have you finished reviewing the document? What do you think?”
Candice typed back, “I just skimmed it. I think you should start by filing an objection to jurisdiction. It’ll be easier once the case is transferred back to Ploville.”
Milton asked, “Okay. When should I do that?”
Candice replied, “You’re still within the reply period, so it’s not too late. You should do it as soon as possible. The court will review your objection according to public law.”
Greyson watched as Candice kept her head down, unaware she was chatting with Milton.

After a while, he finally broke the silence. “Candice, you have loved me and wanted to be with me all these past ten years, haven’t you? Now I’ve decided to fulfill your wish and restore our marriage. Isn’t this what you want? Aren’t you happy?”
Greyson waited but received no answer from Candice.
He furrowed his eyebrows and pressed, “Are you even listening to me?”
Candice was still glued to her phone, typing furiously. Milton had messaged her again. “Tell me how to do it in detail. How about I call you?”
Candice realized she couldn’t take Milton’s call—not while having lunch with Greyson.
So she refused immediately, “Don’t call me. Wait for me tonight…”
But before she could finish, she heard Greyson calling out, wondering if she was even listening. She raised her eyes to meet Greyson’s livid face, looking utterly confused.
“Sorry, what was that? I didn’t hear clearly,” she said.
Greyson’s face fell. He had hoped to see her expectant and excited expression. He knew from her diary that she had been attached to him for ten long years. She should have been overjoyed that he agreed to restore their marriage.
