Chapter 338
Chapter 338:
“What am I trying to do? I’m just trying to stop you from bowing to them,” Milton replied casually as he finally let go of Candice.
Candice was stunned by his reply. No wonder he had been suppressing her.
“Why? Although I’m not working with them, they are still my elders,” she asked in confusion.
Milton sneered, “So what if they are older? This is my company. I own this place. You’re going to be my future wife. They should bow to you instead. So you see, there’s no reason for you to bow. We must know our identity and standing.”
Candice was speechless.
As Candice gazed at Milton, she was struck silent, shaken to her core.
Despite her doubts about Milton’s words, her emotions were thrown into disarray once again.
She stood up abruptly. “You’re talking nonsense!”
Without another word, she dashed out of the conference room. Her heart was pounding, and her head was on fire. She ran blindly, ignoring the path ahead, desperate to escape the man who had stirred her so deeply.
Milton had once again disturbed her heart, creating massive waves that she couldn’t contain. Suddenly, she collided with someone.
The man before her had a broad, solid chest, stood tall, and was dressed in custom-made leather shoes and a crisp gray suit. He held her firmly to keep her from falling.
“I’m sorry.”
Candice raised her head and was shocked by who she saw before her.
It was Bart.
The only one absent from the meeting about the stalking horse bid earlier, and the current vice president of the Royal Garden Corporation.
This wasn’t the first time Candice had seen Bart.

He wore black-rimmed glasses, had bright and resolute eyes, and beautiful eyebrows, giving him a gentlemanly air. But now, standing so close to him, she sensed a rebellious energy emanating from him, especially as he flashed a meaningful smile, as if he was keeping something hidden.
But even more striking was the faint scent that wafted from Bart.
One that Candice found familiar.
She must have smelled it somewhere.
The scent triggered a deep sense of familiarity within her, but Candice couldn’t place where she had smelled it before.
“Don’t worry about it. What brings you here?” Bart asked politely, offering his hands to steady Candice.
Suddenly, Candice felt a sense of caution. She didn’t know what had happened between Bart and Bettina, so she quickly pulled away from his grasp.
The man in front of her was no ordinary individual, especially considering the pain he had caused Bettina.
