Chapter 346
Chapter 346:
“But who will manage the branch? You’re already the chief representative of the firm. Can you handle managing a new branch in another city? I don’t think franchising is a good approach. It could compromise the quality of our firm, and we might struggle to manage the lawyers at the new branch,” Mona raised a valid concern.
“We’ve made a ton of cash this year. It’s time to step up our game,” Bettina sighed, rubbing her temples.
“We can expand the business and become the biggest law firm in Ploville. We could hire more lawyers and hold off on bringing in more partners for now. How does that sound?” Candice suggested.
“Sounds great, but we need an office. I’ve looked at every commercial building in town, and they’re either too small or too far away,” Bettina lamented. “I didn’t find any decent ones.” Bettina was troubled. “All the high-quality buildings are owned by the oligarchs.”
Suddenly, Bettina’s eyes lit up. She turned to Candice and said, “Are you aware that the Royal Garden Corporation owns over half of the high-end office buildings in town?”
“And what does that have to do with me?” Candice asked.
“Let’s ask Mr. Lopez to rent us one of those high-end office buildings. We’ll pay the rent,” Bettina winked at Candice.
“No way. We’ll find another solution,” Candice protested. She didn’t want to owe Milton a favor. If she was in his territory, she’d have to see him every day.
As Candice was in the middle of the meeting, her cell phone abruptly rang. A steady stream of messages flooded in; the phone didn’t stop ringing. She felt embarrassed as she looked at everyone and admitted, “Oops, I forgot to turn on mute. I’m sorry.”
Candice glanced at her phone’s screen, where Milton’s endless messages kept popping up. It appeared he had sent a group of photos containing the information and documents she needed. But why couldn’t he just put them in a file and send it to her? She was stunned. Or better yet, why didn’t he just send an email? Instead, he chose to send them one by one.

Sitting next to Candice, Bettina teased, “Is that him? You were just together. Why is he so clingy?”
Candice bit her lip and waved her hand, responding, “No, it’s not like that. He’s just sending me some documents. They are for the cases he’s given me recently. I’ve already recorded them in the firm’s system. You all can access them.”
“I didn’t ask anything. There’s no need to explain.” Bettina looked at Candice, amused. Candice was at a loss for words.
Suddenly, they heard a knock on the door. Then the front desk receptionist of the law firm walked in, holding two large bags filled with several delicate boxes.
“Miss Reeves, the food you ordered has arrived,” the front desk lady said respectfully.
Bettina looked confused and asked, “What are these? I didn’t order anything.”
The receptionist glanced at the bags and replied, “But… the deliveryman just dropped these off and said they were for the partners in the meeting. He also said that they were from the First Prize Restaurant.”
