Chapter 371
Chapter 371:
She was a true lady, well-educated and refined. Her poise and grace were beyond compare. She wore a simple yet exquisite light brown dress with a top-of-the-line gold necklace and a tasteful bracelet. Compared to Alisson’s over-the-top attire, Erica’s understated beauty was all the more striking.
Of all the affluent women present, Erica shone the brightest.
Even if her son wasn’t the wealthiest man in Ploville, Erica came from a well-to-do family herself. Her affluence was the envy of all the other wealthy women, who vied for her attention and favor.
Even Alisson, Cathryn, and Bessie knew to show her deference. As soon as they spotted Erica, the three of them quickly stepped aside and addressed her respectfully, “Mrs. Lopez.”
Despite Alisson’s prior mention of the scandal involving the Harman and Lopez families, she didn’t want to offend Erica to her face. So she hastily apologized, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought up Mr. Lopez. Please forgive me. It was never my intention to cause offense.”
Erica shot Alisson a cold look, which was enough to silence her for good.
Meanwhile, Rachel was unfamiliar with Erica and hadn’t yet made the acquaintance of the wealthiest woman in town. So she nudged Cathryn and asked, “Who is she? Why is she so haughty?”
Cathryn knew better than to get too close to Rachel at the moment. The Lopez family wielded so much power in Ploville that Erica could easily bankrupt a family at whim. So Cathryn simply waved her hand in response, opting to keep her thoughts to herself.
However, Madilyn caught on to something important. Lowering her voice, she whispered to Rachel, “If I’m not mistaken, that’s Milton’s mother. I’ve seen him before, and they look alike. Milton was the one who slept with Candice on the wedding night, and they’ve been in touch ever since.”
Rachel’s anger flared at the revelation. So this woman was Milton’s mother, the one whose son had an affair with Candice! It was their fault! She couldn’t believe Erica was being so arrogant in front of her.

As Erica approached, Rachel and Madilyn both took a step back, intimidated by her commanding presence. They felt powerless as they basked in her aura.
“I didn’t mishear, did I? You said your son will divorce Candice?” Erica asked in her graceful manner, extending her hand. “Please, have him divorce her as soon as possible. Then, I can arrange for my son to marry her without delay. I’m very fond of her, you see.”
Rachel was at a loss for words. She wanted to lash out and express her anger, but when she looked at Erica, she felt timid and unsure.
Upon hearing that even Milton’s mother had accepted Candice, Madilyn was consumed with jealousy.
“She is just a bitch! Why would you want her as your daughter-in-law?” Madilyn seethed.
Cathryn couldn’t help but feel nervous for Madilyn.
A bitch? How dare Madilyn describe the woman Erica liked in such a way?
Meanwhile, Candice had slipped behind the thick curtains and concealed herself. She didn’t want to be discovered by them. While hiding, Candice couldn’t help but wonder what Erica would say next. Did Erica step in to defend her on a whim, or did she truly care about Candice?
