Chapter 401
Chapter 401:
The medic turned to the driver and said, “This woman’s heart beats 56 times per minute, and her blood pressure is 98 over 55. Her blood pressure…”
and oxygen saturation are both dropping. It’s urgent that we get to Harmony Hospital immediately!”
The medic provided basic care to stop Candice’s bleeding and then told Milton, “The gynecology and obstetrics department at Harmony Hospital is the best, and it’s nearby.”
Milton nodded in agreement.
Even though Greyson owned Harmony Hospital, Candice would receive the finest care there.
She closed her eyes and slipped into a coma. Her skin was so pale that individual blood vessels stood out. Her hand felt cold in his grasp.
He repeatedly rubbed the back of her hand against his thin lips, trying to warm it, but his lips grew cold as well.
Milton’s striking appearance caught the attention of a medical staff member. Though soaked, he seemed unfazed. The staff member couldn’t help but ask, “Is the baby yours?”
After a brief pause, Milton nodded slightly.
As long as the baby was Candice’s, it was his too. Nothing else mattered now. Seeing the pain on her face, he began to feel guilty for ever wanting her to abort the child.
When the ambulance arrived at Harmony Hospital, the emergency doctor was already eager to begin.
Candice was rushed out of the ambulance and taken directly to the resuscitation room, leaving Milton standing alone in the corridor as the automatic frosted glass doors closed behind her.
He could only wait.
Each second felt like an eternity to Milton as he anxiously waited outside the resuscitation room.
Suddenly, the door creaked open. A doctor in blue surgical scrubs emerged, followed by a young nurse hurrying behind him.
“Where is the patient’s family?” the doctor demanded.
Milton didn’t hesitate. “Here, doctor.”
“Who are you to her?” the doctor asked.
“I’m her fiancé,” Milton replied firmly. Knowing she was already divorced, he felt comfortable calling himself her fiancé.
The nurse, caught off guard by Milton’s good looks, gently handed him the consent form for the procedure.
The doctor said, “The patient is currently in a coma. She is twelve weeks pregnant. There is no detectable fetal heartbeat, and the bleeding has reached 500cc. She requires an immediate curettage and abortion. Delaying treatment could result in severe bleeding and potentially life-threatening hemorrhagic shock. Since you are her fiancé, the child is clearly yours. Please provide your consent for the procedure immediately.”
