However, there was no answer. Raul had been away from Ploville for over a month and had no idea what had happened while he was gone. But something must have gone wrong since Bettina was behaving that way.
He had to go to the hospital for Bettina’s and Milton’s sakes.
“Harmony Hospital, please. And please hurry. I’m in a rush,” Bettina instructed the taxi driver as soon as she entered the car.
“Sure, I’ll try my best,” replied the driver as he started to speed up.
Bettina continued reading the news on her phone. The more she read, the more concerned she became. Last night, a series of unexpected events had happened at the ambassador’s wife’s birthday party. All the secrets of the Harman family were exposed, along with Madilyn and Rachel’s misdeeds. Furthermore, the news of Greyson’s divorce had spread like wildfire.
She suspected that Candice had something to do with it. But why had she ended up in the hospital?
Bettina’s phone suddenly rang.
The call interrupted her reading.
She lowered her head and looked at the strange phone number. She had a hunch about who was calling.
She answered the phone, and as she expected, the voice on the other end was familiar but fake, gentle but vicious.
“Betty, didn’t you come home last night? Where were you?” It was none other than Bart.
Bettina took a deep breath, outraged that Bart had the nerve to call her after what he had done. Thankfully, she hadn’t gone home last night. If she had returned to the Chinsea Villa Complex, Bart might have tried to do something crazy to her again.
Suddenly, Bettina’s eyes lit up as realization dawned on her. “Bart, did you intentionally force me to leave the party last night? Did you have something to do with what happened to Candice?” She raised her voice, anger seeping through her words. “You used me!”

“Betty, what are you talking about? You’re overthinking things. It’s been so long since we separated, and I missed you so much. I admit that I was a bit impulsive last night. I want to apologize for what happened. I promise I’ll control myself in the future and won’t hurt you. Did I hurt you last night? Are you okay?” Bart tried to coax her. “I didn’t mean to do that. I just couldn’t help myself.”
“Fuck off, you bastard!” Bettina was so furious that her lips trembled. This man was a hypocrite!
She would never trust him again. His every move was calculated and manipulative!
He had forced her into having sex with him and then insulted her like this. Did he think she was stupid? How dare he try to coax her with words? The more she thought about what happened last night, the more she felt that Bart had intentionally taken her away from Candice.
“Bart, I don’t care about your plans or ambitions. Don’t involve me in them. I’m not someone you can take advantage of!” she warned. “If I find out that you’ve done something to my friend, I promise you’ll pay a heavy price!”
