As she delved deeper, she saw that her assistant had missed a crucial project that could have justified a higher compensation demand. Candice felt a sudden rush of frustration. Taking a deep breath, she resolved to correct the mistake. She had assumed Milton was making things difficult, but he had actually spotted a major flaw in the case.

A few moments later, Blair arrived with lunch.
Milton’s meal had been specially prepared by a five-star chef, featuring a dazzling array of exquisite dishes and desserts.
Candice noticed a hidden compartment in the office that revealed a dining room when opened. It was a luxurious setup usually kept out of view.
The last time Candice had visited Milton’s office, she had been completely unaware of the hidden private dining area.
After setting the table, Blair closed the door and left respectfully.
Milton walked directly to the table, casting a quick glance at Candice before taking his seat.
She rose from the sofa and followed him to the table. “I’ve just gone through the file carefully,” Candice remarked, preparing to apologize for her oversight on the GreatTechnologies case.
But before she could speak, Milton interrupted her.
“Don’t talk about work while we eat,” he said sharply.
He then gestured to the opposite seat.
Feeling helpless, Candice took her seat, unsure of what to say next.
Her stomach rumbled as she gazed hungrily at the array of delicious dishes before her. There were both Western foods and Eastern delicacies, and she couldn’t resist taking a bite. She was in a hurry, with a lot of work to do in the afternoon, having already fallen behind during her month-long leave.
