Chapter 492
Chapter 492:
Jealous? Could it be that Candice was upset because he talked to another woman? Was that possible?
He pondered the recent events. True, before Candice had stormed off, the mere mention of Sigrid’s name had ignited her hostility. Was she genuinely jealous?
As this realization dawned on him, a smile crept across Milton’s face, lifting his spirits.
“Do you truly believe that’s the case?” he asked, seeking confirmation from Raul.
“If you’re doubtful, perhaps arrange a meeting between the two of them and observe the situation,” Raul suggested.
Milton pressed his lips together, contemplating Raul’s advice.
He yearned to understand Candice’s thoughts. He had tried his utmost to restrain his desires that fateful night on the yacht. It was she who had released them first, sending him spiraling out of control once more. She had fully surrendered to him, even taking the initiative to reciprocate his passion. They were incredibly in sync, her alluring moans still echoing in his ears.
Time and again, he revisited that euphoric feeling. Yet afterward, she had turned on him, claiming it was merely a physiological need, a one-night stand, and had even dismissed him with money.
After Milton mulled it over, his mind shifted to another pressing matter.
He patted Raul’s arm, seeking his attention.
“By the way, did you uncover any suspicious activity at the ambassador’s wife’s birthday party?”
Raul let out a weary sigh, shaking his head in disbelief. “It feels like someone out there is fully aware of our every move and objective. Every time we make progress, the evidence and leads vanish before us. I haven’t been able to find any proof to clear your mother’s name, and it’s disheartening. Alas. However, I have found something suspicious.”
Milton raised his eyebrows, indicating the situation was likely more complicated than he originally thought.

“Tell me more.”
Raul leaned in closer and whispered, “That day, Bart attended the birthday party as well. However, he wasn’t on the guest list.”
The dangerous glint in Raul’s eyes intensified. “Why would he go there? This kind of social gathering shouldn’t concern him in the least.”
“I’ve been thinking the same. I’ve pondered this for quite some time. I can’t think of anyone who would benefit more from going against you or your mother than Bart. He suddenly returned to Ploville and secured the position of vice president at Royal Garden Corporation. Don’t you think there are underlying issues behind all this?”
Raul reminded him, “Bart is known for being double-faced and skilled at hiding his true intentions. It’s likely he’s involved somehow.”
Milton paused, lost in thought for a moment.
Raul added, “Whether it’s you being drugged or your mother pushing Candice, we can’t seem to uncover the truth. It’s evident there was premeditation. If someone with significant power purposely erased the traces, it’s no wonder we find ourselves at such a disadvantage. I can’t understand why everything seems connected to Candice. Is it mere coincidence?”
