Chapter 504
Chapter 504:
It was getting quite late. She was about to leave. Today, she didn’t have to work overtime at Royal Garden Corporation since the materials were not yet ready.
As she passed the sofa, she noticed Greyson had forgotten his briefcase when he left in the afternoon.
Moreover, it seemed like he had no intention of taking it back. Perhaps he simply forgot.
After a moment’s hesitation, Candice thought about ignoring it. If Greyson truly needed it, he would come to retrieve it himself.
However, as she reached the door, she paused, turned back to the sofa, and picked up Greyson’s briefcase. Never mind. She’d rather return it to him directly than have him make another trip to the law firm.
She decided to take a taxi home. That way, she could drop off the briefcase at his apartment on Starsea Street.
She took a deep breath. Her words to Greyson earlier had been a bit harsh. After all, Greyson had provided her with the evidence using his professional expertise and had dedicated over a month to diligent deduction. In this matter, he had done more than enough for her.
She acknowledged that her bad mood from Milton had influenced her attitude toward Greyson to some extent. She shouldn’t have acted that way. If she saw him later, she would express gratitude for his assistance in obtaining the evidence.
Greyson made his way back to his apartment on Starsea Street tonight, choosing to forgo overtime at Harmony Hospital. His assistant had called him, but he refused to go. All he desired was some solitude, just for a while.
Upon arriving at the vacant apartment, he was greeted by the cold air and the absence of human presence. It used to be Candice’s home, but now there was no trace of her existence.
He walked toward the storage room and unlocked the wine cabinet, which had remained untouched for an extended period. Although it held all kinds of famous wines, he never indulged in them personally. They were only reserved for social gatherings and formal events.

Drinking had become a forbidden act for a doctor like him. For three days before and after performing surgery, he refrained from consuming alcohol. Over time, it became a habit he diligently adhered to.
Sometimes, when he was in a bad mood, smoking was his only respite from boredom.
However, tonight, all he desired was to drown his sorrows in alcohol, seeking to numb himself completely. The more intoxicated he became, the better.
He opened a bottle of exquisite tequila and filled an entire glass. Without a second thought, he downed it in one go. The sharp, acrid aroma and burning sensation of alcohol coursed through his senses, jolting his nerves. He took several gulps in succession and nearly choked.
He gradually slumped down onto the sofa and ended up sitting on the floor, holding the tequila bottle.
He had always believed he lived up to his own expectations and those of the Harman family, never regretting anything.
But now, regret consumed him.
