Chapter 595
Chapter 595:
It hit him all at once: she hadn’t gone to the restroom at all. She had purposely evaded him.
How could she use such sneaky tactics to escape him? Standing there in the middle of the hall, seething with anger, Milton pulled out his phone and dialed Candice’s number.
There was no answer.
He kicked the air in frustration, fists clenched, as he surveyed his surroundings. She had slipped away and refused to answer his calls.
Damn it!
The driver, having realized that the woman with Milton had disappeared, hurried over. It was no surprise that Milton was furious.
The driver cautiously asked, “Mr. Lopez, should we still head to the Vital Hotel?”
Milton pressed his temples, the beginnings of a headache throbbing in his mind. “No. Take me to the branch office.”
“Okay,” the driver responded quickly.
During the drive, Milton remained on the phone.
The man on the other end of the line was Axell Salazar, his special assistant in Ploville. His role was to assist in investigating various pieces of information.
“Go and look into the recent case involving Corless. Find out where the incident occurred and what exactly happened. Give me all the details and respond as soon as possible.”
“Yes, Mr. Lopez,” Axell replied.
After ending the call, Milton stared out of the window, watching the passing scenery, his mind in turmoil.
Unconsciously, he reached into the pocket of his suit where he kept the two bottles of her medication.
Worry once again consumed him.

He could tell Candice was upset, but he couldn’t figure out the reason for her anger. By taking on Corless’ case, she had willingly put herself in danger, and that troubled him.
But she wanted to break free from his control.
Milton felt a deep unease, fearing that something bad was about to happen.
Meanwhile, after escaping from Milton’s presence, Candice headed to the taxi stand near Gate No. Six on the second floor.
Technically, she didn’t need to avoid Milton while conducting her investigation, but she refused to share the same room with him. He had only booked one room, and the entire floor was empty. What was his intention? She didn’t want him to have his way with her anymore. The tasks she had to accomplish weren’t difficult, and she could handle them on her own.
For tonight, she had decided to sleep in a private room at a sauna store. As a lawyer, she knew that if she didn’t want to expose her whereabouts, her only choice was to sleep in the sauna store, where she wouldn’t need to register any personal information.
