Chapter 607
Chapter 607:
After looking around, Candice raised her head and exclaimed, “I think we’re lost!”
Milton was left speechless.
Milton realized Candice was right. They had indeed gotten lost.
Their phones had no reception and hardly any battery life remaining. They had no means to get in touch with the outside world, and they couldn’t find their way back.
Milton scratched his head, thinking. “Let’s spend the night in the forest and figure things out in the morning. There is no other option.”
“Ah!” Candice yelled quietly. “Spend the night here? You want us to sleep in these dark woods?!”
Milton sneered. “Yes, thanks to you! Or do you have a better idea?”
Candice couldn’t even utter a sound at that.
To be fair, she was mostly to blame for their predicament.
With that in mind, she chose to stay quiet.
To see better, Milton turned on the flashlight on his phone as well. Seeing a large tree, he told her, “Sit here. We’re going to spend the night here.”
Candice agreed and went to a nearby patch of grass. It looked cleaner, so she sat on it.
The temperature plummeted dramatically at night in the forest. Candice was still shivering, despite the suit jacket that Milton had placed on her.
As he watched her huddle up, Milton said, “I have a lighter. I’ll start a fire, and we’ll soon be warm. Save some power by turning off your phone. We’ll try to call the outside world first thing in the morning.”
“Okay.” Candice turned off her phone.
In the area, Milton found some dry branches and stacked them. Then he used his lighter to set the dry branches on fire.
He did it so effortlessly that Candice had to ask, “Have you attended survival in the wilderness classes? I’m impressed with your level of skill.”
Milton turned to scowl at Candice and said indignantly, “No. You just made this my first ever night in the wilderness.”
Candice was speechless.
It made sense, as he had mysophobia. Naturally, he was not well-suited for things like wilderness survival. It was impossible for him to stand being in such a filthy place! She had done him a huge disservice by making him spend a night in the woods.
The fire was kindled, and as the warmth spread, the surroundings became illuminated.
All of this was completed by Milton. Then, without warning, his phone died automatically. He tossed the phone aside. Candice’s shivering subsided as she sat against the tall tree.
Milton approached Candice and prepared to sit down.
In a rush, Candice got up and told him, “You sit here.”
After making this statement, she hurriedly sat some distance away from him. She was avoiding him.
