Chapter 614
Chapter 614:
Candice begrudgingly opened her eyes.
Before her unfolded a breathtaking sight, prompting her to gasp in awe. A fiery morning sky, ablaze with color, heralded the dawn.
A kaleidoscope of hues intermingled, enveloped by a verdant glow and bathed in red sunlight.
Suddenly, a crimson sun ascended amid thousands of gilded rays, casting a warm, ruby hue upon their surroundings. Dewdrops sparkled like diamonds on the leaves, their brilliance undeniable.
“It’s beautiful,” Candice mused.
The sunrise had a sobering effect on her.
She abruptly recalled how she had clung to Milton throughout the night.
She had found solace in his embrace due to her fear of mice.
Her cheeks flushed crimson.
Damn it. Candice cursed in her heart. What did I do? What a shame! She had resolved to keep her distance, yet had ended up throwing herself at him.
Swiftly, she disentangled herself from Milton and sat down nearby. Feigning ignorance, she inquired, “Why did I wake up in your arms?”
Pointing to the extinguished bonfire, she coughed. “Maybe I was drawn to you when the fire went out, seeking warmth. I’m sorry.”
Milton looked at her speechlessly, his frosty eyes filled with astonishment. She had even learned to feign innocence! He chose not to argue with her.
Instead, he extended a hand to her.
“Help me up.”
“Why?” Candice regarded him quizzically.
“You slept on me all night. How could my legs not be numb?” Milton replied tersely. He had tried to stand but found himself unable to do so.

Candice was at a loss for words.
Mortified, she approached him, took his hand, and pulled him up. Milton leaned against the tree for support and, with her assistance, finally rose to his feet. He shifted his legs, attempting to alleviate the discomfort of numbness.
“Do you want me to massage your legs?” Candice, aware of her culpability, offered as she began to squat down.
Milton quickly envisioned the suggestive scene of her kneeling before him, stroking his legs. He had already suppressed his desires all night. Hadn’t that been enough? “No, thanks,” he declined, avoiding her touch.
He couldn’t handle her flirtatious advances.
“Alright.” Sensing his displeasure, Candice refrained from saying more.
After a while, the sensation returned to Milton’s legs. Checking his watch, he announced, “Let’s get going. Dawn has broken, and it’s time to head back. Turn on your phone. Once we have a signal, you can contact the outside world.”
