Chapter 624
Chapter 624:
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, featuring a unified design and a bathtub.
She quickly discarded her dirty clothes, indulged in a rejuvenating shower, and washed her hair. Afterwards, she slipped into the clean attire, wrapped a fresh towel around her long hair, and began to dry it.
Stepping out of the bathroom, she noticed that Milton, too, had cleaned up. He was now dressed in a sharp blue suit and seated at the table, carefully slicing a piece of bread.
Ignoring any pretense of decorum due to her hunger, Candice took a seat across from him and grabbed a piece of bread, taking a large bite. Unlike Milton, Candice didn’t possess the same leisurely demeanor. She wondered why he felt the need to slice the bread using a knife. Just bite it.
She indulged in a few bites of each dish, savoring the delicious flavors. This man’s extravagance was undeniable. It seemed as though the breakfast had been custom-made, perhaps even sourced from a prestigious five-star restaurant.
Feeling satiated, she took a big sip of juice, her cheeks bulging. Milton savored his breakfast slowly, his gaze unwaveringly fixed upon Candice.
Suddenly, he inquired, “How many days?”
Candice was taken aback. “How many days?”
Milton shifted his eyes to the sizable bag of sanitary pads nearby and queried, “When will it end?”
Almost reflexively, Candice answered, “Five days.”
Once she responded, her mind cleared. A frown appeared on her face. Why would he pose such a question to her? What prompted him to ask when her period would end? What was his motive? Huh? What irked her more was the fact that she had responded!
Why did she feel compelled to respond?
The embarrassment was overwhelming.
Instinctively, her hand grabbed at her collar as she eyed him suspiciously. “What’s the reason for your question?” Was she supposed to be thankful that her cycle had coincidentally started today, sparing her from potential sexual encounters? Otherwise, if left undisturbed on the private jet, he would have made his move.

Milton glanced at her, stating, “That can’t be. Five days from now is a weekend. The court can’t convene then.”
What? Court proceedings?
Hearing this, Candice was taken aback. Her mind was in a whirl until she grasped his intent.
He was asking about the duration until Corless’ trial? How many days until the court hearing?
She had misunderstood his question, thinking he was asking when her period would end.
Why did he glance at the sanitary pads? It had led to her misinterpretation!
Now her embarrassment was even greater than before! “We still have six days remaining. The court trial is scheduled for next Monday,” she quickly said.
