Chapter 632
Chapter 632:
With a furrowed brow, she voiced her disapproval. “I refuse to be cornered into making a choice. I’m not in agreement with any of the options.”
Living in Milton’s house was out of the question for her. It would only magnify her humiliation. Likewise, she didn’t want him to invade her space either! Moreover, asking him to leave her house would prove arduous.
“It’s not like you have much of a choice!” Milton’s dominance emerged once again as he said, “Miss Reeves, gather all the documents Candice requires for her tasks this week and dispatch them to her home. As for me, I’ll move in with her!” He responded with unwavering conviction, leaving no room for Candice to make a decision this time.
Taken aback, Candice vehemently protested, “I have no desire to live with you! There’s no connection between us…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Milton interjected, “Why the reluctance? It’s common knowledge that we’ve been intimate!” He was puzzled by her reserved demeanor. As soon as he finished his words, everyone present was shocked.
Candice’s eyes widened in disbelief. Good heavens, what was he saying? How could he utter such suggestive words in front of everyone?
That was utterly shameless!
Unable to contain herself, she rushed forward, rose to her tiptoes, firmly covered his thin lips, and whisked him away through the door.
Then, she glanced back, offering an awkward smile to Bettina. “Apologies, I need a private conversation with him.”
Bettina held her tongue. Candice had taken considerable risks, and only Milton could stop her. For her safety, Bettina couldn’t object to Milton’s proposal.
Waving at Candice, Bettina advised, “Stay at home until the trial of Corless’ case. Don’t venture outside. We’ll handle everything else.”
Watching Candice lead Milton away, Mona chuckled and remarked, “Indeed, she needs someone to subdue her!”
Bettina replied, “You’re right. However, Mr. Lopez’s way with words… leaves much to be desired!”

Mona shrugged, flashing a smile. “Alright then, I’ll get back to work. If you need any assistance, just let me know.” With that, Mona turned and departed from the lobby.
Bettina shot a disapproving glare at the receptionist and the assistant lawyer who were amusing themselves. “Do you have nothing better to do? Go and continue copying the documents! And you, have you finished writing the report? Time is of the essence!”
Reprimanded, the receptionist and assistant hurriedly left. For a brief moment, Bettina was alone in the lobby. She touched her nose and peeped at the door. Her gaze was fixated on the corridor where Candice was with Milton. It appeared that their relationship had mellowed somewhat. She hesitated, torn between wishing for Candice’s happiness and fearing the potential for further harm.
Safety, without having to bargain, took precedence. At present, Milton was the sole person capable of protecting Candice.
Sighing, Bettina reluctantly retreated to her office. Even if she knew that it might not be the right thing to do, she couldn’t stop it. Her arms were simply tied in that regard. Just as she stepped in, her phone rang, breaking the silence.
