Chapter 636
Chapter 636:
Eyeing Milton, who was lounging on the sofa, engrossed in his laptop without any objections, Jarrod followed Candice’s instruction and placed all items in the guest room on the ground level.
Candice’s expression was one of discontent. Even as Jarrod moved Milton’s belongings into her home, his ear seemed attuned to another’s orders rather than hers. She was the mistress of the house, wasn’t she?
Jarrod efficiently organized all of Milton’s belongings. By the time he was done, it was already four o’clock in the afternoon.
Hunger gnawed at Candice. She cast a glance at Milton, who was immersed in his work. For maintaining his impeccable physique, the man restricted himself to only two meals a day. He never missed breakfast, but his lunch or dinner time was erratic. It seemed like he planned to skip straight to dinner today. But she couldn’t bear the hunger any longer.
She opened the kitchen cabinet and started searching for the instant noodles she had stashed away. Despite the refrigerator being stocked with high-quality ingredients, courtesy of Jarrod, she considered them more as decorative items than consumables.
A quick scan of the cabinet revealed no signs of her instant noodles.
In a panic, she dashed out of the kitchen, demanding, “Where are my instant noodles?”
Milton, without even looking up, responded, “I got rid of them.”
Candice’s temper flared. The last time she was ill, he must have disposed of her entire stock of instant noodles during his visit. She protested, “This is my home. Why did you discard my things?”
Finally, Milton looked up. “They are unhealthy. You shouldn’t consume them.”
Candice was momentarily lost for words.
Suddenly, she felt an urge to question him about his concern for Sigrid’s eating habits. She parted her lips, but instead, she asked, “If you were to stay here and not return to the office for a few days, would Sigrid voice her disapproval?”

Realizing her question sounded odd, she quickly feigned a cough. “Ahem, what I mean is, don’t you need to discuss work progress in person?”
Milton set his laptop aside, giving her a puzzled look. “If I needed to discuss work with every employee, how could I run so many businesses simultaneously?” The answer eluded Candice.
What about her? Why was he involving himself in her affairs?
“What are you trying to say?” Milton rose and moved toward Candice. “You’ve brought up Sigrid multiple times. What’s your point?”
Feeling flustered, Candice turned away, stating, “Nothing. Just curious.”
She hurriedly returned to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, retrieved a bottle of water, and unscrewed the cap. What on earth was she doing? She was genuinely concerned about his ambiguous relationship with Sigrid. The memory of him kissing Sigrid in the office left her feeling uneasy, like her heart was being bitten by ants.
But she didn’t want him to detect her jealousy.
