Chapter 637
Chapter 637:
She needed to unpack her emotions. She couldn’t let herself fall for him more.
Feeling a fiery sensation in her chest, she lifted the water bottle, intending to gulp down the liquid to douse her inner turmoil. However, the bottle didn’t even reach her lips.
It was snatched from her grasp by Milton.
She stood there, bewildered, looking at Milton who was now behind her. “What? I need a drink.”
Milton scowled. “You shouldn’t be drinking cold water on your period.”
Again, Candice was at a loss for words.
With a gentle nudge, Milton moved Candice out of his way. He proceeded to fill the smart, thermostatic kettle with water and started to heat it.
“Don’t bother. I’ve been drinking cold water since I was a child.” Candice was taken aback. His concern was palpable.
Yet, Milton disregarded her protest, instead querying, “How about we add some ginger and brown sugar to the water? I was browsing the Internet and learned about that just now.”
Candice responded with surprise, “No! Why were you researching this? I’ve never been a fan of ginger and brown sugar water. It leaves a horrible aftertaste!”
“Alright,” Milton responded.
Shortly after, the kettle’s thermometer indicated that the water had reached forty-five degrees. Turning off the heat, Milton filled a glass with the warm water and offered it to Candice, urging, “Have some warm water.” Candice accepted and indulged in a few sips. The warm liquid trickling down her throat filled her with a comforting warmth. She was touched.
“Are you hungry? I just sent Jarrod to pick up some takeaway from a nearby restaurant. I’ll whip up a steak for you tonight,” he proposed tenderly.
At that moment, Jarrod returned, hands laden with numerous bags.
“Mr. Lopez, your requested meal is all laid out on the table.” Observing the pair in the kitchen, Jarrod decided not to interrupt. After placing the bags down, he swiftly exited. Listening to Jarrod’s voice and observing Milton in front of her, Candice realized that he had premeditated everything to cater to her needs.

Her lips quivered slightly, and she was deeply moved.
Milton noticed her furrowed brow and instinctively reached out, giving her cheek a gentle squeeze. “What’s the matter? Why are you quiet?”
Her mind seemed elsewhere, and catching her off guard, he flashed a smile. He caressed her neck, his hand traveling to the back of her head, gripping it softly.
His unintentional movements seemed suggestive suddenly.
A romantic aura started to fill the room.
His gaze turned intense, while her lips trembled slightly, moist as if inviting him for a taste. A wave of warmth washed over him, and he found himself leaning closer.
Candice’s thoughts were a whirlpool of confusion. She mentally resisted, not wanting to fall for him, but her body remained inert.
He was just about to kiss her.
