Chapter 679
Chapter 679:
“It’s okay,” Milton replied, checking the time. Three more hours remained until half past eleven.
After hanging up the phone, he left the private room with Candice and said, “I’m going to Denm tonight. It might take a few days, and I don’t know when I’ll come back. I’ll drive you home now. I’ll leave after packing up.”
“Okay,” Candice said.
They walked through the hallways together and turned a corner. When they were about to reach the hall, they bumped into Erica. They had no idea if Erica would leave or return to the private room. In any case, the atmosphere was quite awkward. Erica was displeased as she observed Milton firmly holding Candice’s wrist, but she didn’t show it. She only asked, “Have you finished eating?”
As his mother and Candice faced each other, Milton nodded, pulled Candice behind him, and blocked her with his body. Erica raised a brow.
“What? Are you afraid that I will hurt her?” Milton said coldly, “No. I have something urgent to deal with. I have to go now.” After that, he pulled Candice away.
Candice felt a little embarrassed by the awkward situation. Even though she didn’t believe that Erica had pushed her down the stairs, the misunderstanding remained unresolved, and she continued to feel awkward around Erica.
As Candice left alongside Erica, she politely nodded and said, “Mrs. Lopez, goodbye.”
Seeing Milton taking Candice away, Erica called out from behind, “Milton, when will you come back? Her case has concluded.”
Milton turned a deaf ear to Erica’s words, leading Candice all the way to the parking lot.
Once inside the car, Candice dutifully secured her seat belt and gently reminded him, “Your mother’s intentions were crystal clear. She wanted us to sever our ties. You’re embarking on a business trip tonight, and it’s too late now. Send Jarrod tomorrow to take away your belongings.”
Milton stole a glance at Candice and asserted, “You’ve misunderstood her. That’s not what she meant.”

Candice bit her lip, choosing not to retort.
With the car in motion, Milton drove toward the Blake family’s villa.
Along the way, Milton’s memory was jogged, and he mentioned, “Despite Corless’ apprehension, exercise caution during my absence. I won’t withdraw the guards stationed at your house for the time being. Jarrod will serve as your chauffeur during my absence. Don’t wander aimlessly. I’ll ring you up daily, keeping an eye on you. And be a good girl.”
Candice remained silent, offering no response.
After a brief pause, she inquired, “What about the Warren Building Materials acquisition if you go on a business trip? The market opens early tomorrow morning, and it’s very important.”
“Specialized professionals are overseeing the operation, and I’ve also provided explicit instructions. Once the market unveils its doors tomorrow, I’ll personally steer it remotely. There’s nothing to fret about,” Milton assured her.
“Very well,” Candice replied, saying no more.
