Chapter 731
Chapter 731:
“Chocolate can provide some energy. Please, take it.”
“What about you? Don’t you feel hungry?” She had managed to utter between her sobs.
He responded, “I ate too much at lunch. I’m not hungry.” That chocolate was, to her recollection, the sweetest thing she had ever tasted.
From then on, he had always kept chocolate in his pocket all because of her.
Candice was so dumbstruck that she could barely grasp the revelation.
She had mistaken another person for him for the past decade.
It was not Greyson, but him!
Suddenly, it made sense why his voice felt so familiar when they sang a love song together.
He indulged in a hearty lunch and skipped dinner, as it turned out to be a habit he had maintained since high school.
She had never realized this.
Her obsession with Greyson, born out of that tiny bit of warmth in the cold storage, had dominated her thoughts for a full decade. Even after enduring severe emotional pain, she couldn’t let go of the past. But now, he had corrected her error.
Suddenly, she seized his collar. “You’re aware of what transpired that fateful night at Wilmint High School, aren’t you? You’ve always known it was me, haven’t you?” A brief stroll past the school’s cold storage one night had inadvertently stirred up memories of her past. She had filled him in on what had happened to her in the cold storage.
“Yes, I’m aware,” Milton confessed. He tenderly caressed her face, feeling the steady calm returning to her form as her tremors slowly subsided. Internally, he felt a sense of relief. His thorough research had provided him with a profound understanding of the importance of shifting one’s focus to avoid the emergence of PTSD symptoms. She couldn’t have a breakdown at this time.
“But why stay silent?” Candice demanded, a hint of frustration in her voice.

“Would your perspective of me shift had I shared that with you?” Milton posed his own question. “Some matters are too insignificant to bring up. I didn’t want your views of me to be swayed by the past.”
Caught off guard, Candice stuttered, “Insignificant? You believe it’s trivial, don’t you? Are you aware that I’ve dedicated a whole decade…”
Her words trailed off. Then she raised another question. “On that night a decade ago, I distinctly remember ripping off the plate from your school uniform. It showed your dorm number was 307. Hadn’t you been studying abroad all the time? What brought you to Wilmint High School’s cold storage?”
“I came back for a chemistry competition. However, due to the event that unfolded, I fell sick the next day and couldn’t compete. After two days, I was back in America.” At that moment, Milton recalled that he didn’t bother searching for the plate when he found that his school uniform had lost it. It turned out that she had taken it away. A sudden understanding dawned upon him, and he locked eyes with her.
The beam of a flashlight caught her face, clearly highlighting her shock.
His dorm, Room 307, housed only him and Greyson.
