Chapter 761
Chapter 762:
Candice tore her hand free from Greyson’s grip. She gazed at him, a resentful expression on her face.
“I’m truly sorry. No matter what I say, I can’t undo what’s been done. But please understand, I only wanted to be with you again. I planned to explain everything once my grandpa and the elders in my family were convinced.” Greyson’s voice wavered as he spoke. His bond with her
Greyson seemed to be fraying at the edges, clearly uncomfortable with the unexpected revelation of his actions.
Milton’s striking face hardened at the repeated mention of Greyson’s intention to remarry Candice. How could Milton possibly tolerate that?
In a tone filled with contempt, he scoffed, “Save it, Greyson. Quit playing the victim. If you were being truthful, why did you instruct Essie to falsify her gestational weeks? You even asked her to provide fake reports in case anyone questioned it. You wanted me to believe the child was yours, didn’t you? When Candice had her abortion and was admitted to the hospital, the nurse disclosed that she was actually twelve weeks pregnant. But the report from East Hospital, provided by Essie, claimed Candice was only eight weeks along. That’s a four-week difference—nearly a whole month. You were trying to cover up the fact that she was carrying my child on your wedding night, weren’t you?”
After a short pause, he continued, “Essie still had a shred of conscience. During our first meeting, she told me the fetus hadn’t developed properly in the early stages of pregnancy. She emphasized the high risk of complications and potential accidents. She mentioned possibilities like early miscarriage, slow embryo growth, sudden cardiac arrest, and other risks. She warned me to be cautious. I was puzzled by her warnings. What was she trying to tell me? And why did she disappear so suddenly? Even I couldn’t find her. Who’s backing her? If I hadn’t been cautious and insisted on investigating, I would’ve stayed in the dark forever.”
Milton’s intensity stifled Greyson, giving him no opportunity to clarify his actions.

Greyson found himself speechless in response.
Yet he couldn’t acknowledge his missteps. Confession meant no escape.
Moreover, his original intention was genuinely to wed Candice once again. He wasn’t dishonest about that. The part he had omitted was his reluctance to rectify his mistake afterward. He had his personal agenda, secretly wishing for a rift to form between Candice and Milton.
But he could never bring himself to admit it.
“Yes, I altered her pregnancy timeline. I even instructed Essie to corroborate my story when she was questioned. So what? My grandfather is a skeptical man. I feared he might dig deeper. How was I to anticipate your discovery and misunderstanding? I’m familiar with Candice’s character. Even if she carried your child, she would never confess it to you.”
“Unbelievable!” Milton was infuriated by Greyson’s illogical defense. Yet, he couldn’t deny the fact that Candice kept the news from him.
