Chapter 783
Chapter 783:
As she thought of this, she angrily swatted Milton’s hand away. He could have helped her.
The audacious hypocrite set different standards for himself and her. While he had the ability to break the rules, he didn’t permit Candice to do the same. He held the power to determine what was right and wrong. He had the ultimate authority. What an abominable, domineering man! Candice felt cornered, utterly displeased with being under Milton’s control.
Watching her, Milton asked with a hint of amusement, “Are you upset? Remember, I’m doing this for your benefit. My aim is to make you a competent driver.”
Milton gently turned her face towards his, looking into her eyes with sincerity. “It’s commendable that you overcame your mental barriers and drove for me. I want you to step out of your past’s shadows from now on. Don’t worry, I’ll be there with you. You will ace the driving test.”
Forced to meet his gaze, Candice stared back at his affectionate eyes, her lips trembling slightly. She knew Milton was right, but her stubbornness prevented her from admitting it.
Candice protruded her lower lip in a pout and retorted, “Forget it! I don’t need your instructions. After all, you’re constantly breaking the rules. How could you possibly be a good teacher? Humph!”
A chuckle escaped Milton’s lips. He hadn’t anticipated her to hold a grudge. Her disgruntled expression was so charming; it made him want to playfully tease her even more. Yesterday, Candice had overcome her own limitations and conquered a PTSD outbreak. Her ability to drive represented a turning point, a miracle, and a new opportunity. Milton hoped that through this accomplishment, he could further aid her recovery. Only by helping her practice driving and forget her painful past could she truly move on.
Looking at her, Milton slowly leaned in and sealed her mouth with his lips. He carried out the action he had wanted to but was earlier interrupted.
As he kissed her deeply, she was caught off guard. Their lips and tongues intertwined, and Milton could sense her anger fading away. Eventually, Candice melted into his arms, soft as a sweet kitten, making him brim with pride.
In front of others, Candice was usually frosty and restrained. But in his presence, she allowed herself to be vulnerable and expressive.
At this moment, Candice was completely captivated by his kiss. She wrapped her arms around his waist and kissed him back. She nearly forgot about the previous disagreement they had and desired nothing more than to remain embraced in his arms.
Suddenly, her phone rang, breaking the intimate silence.
When she heard her phone ringtone, Candice’s striking eyes snapped open. With swift movement, her lips parted from his, and her gaze slid down to her phone.
Yet, Milton was unsatisfied, a grumble escaping his lips. “Damn it. Just ignore the call.”
Lifting her chin gently with his left hand, Milton forced her eyes to meet his. He was filled with an aching desire, a longing to continue their intimate moment to calm his restless state.
Candice’s serious tone cut through the tension as she noticed the caller ID. “It’s a call from the police station.”
