Chapter 817
Chapter 820:
Furrowing her brows once again, Candice found confirmation in Bettina’s words. Greyson intended to return the ten years of waiting she had endured, hoping for a change of heart from her.
When he spotted Candice opening the door and entering the room, Greyson’s eyes lit up with delight.
She appeared increasingly enchanting to him. Her red lips exuded allure, while her beautiful eyes brimmed with affection, radiating a soft, inner glow. Her complexion resembled crystal-clear skin nurtured by rain, akin to a blossoming flower—resplendent and captivating.
Softly calling out, Greyson said, “Candice, you’re finally here.”
His voice betrayed a hint of jealousy. He was well aware that she had spent these past days with Milton. How could she look so radiant? Why was she so content in Milton’s company? Deep within, Greyson grappled with a profound sense of jealousy.
Candice passed by Greyson with a purposeful stride. She proceeded straight to her desk and switched on her computer.
“What do you want from me?” she addressed him in a businesslike tone.
Surveying her workspace, Candice noticed an assortment of documents strewn across her desk. The aged papers bore signs of time, their once-white hues fading into a gentle yellow. It seemed Greyson had brought them there that day.
“What are these?” She flipped through the pages, and a wave of astonishment washed over her.
They were all sealed materials from the past, pertaining to the Blake Group.
Greyson rose to his feet and moved toward Candice. “I’ve been hunting down details about the collapse of the Blake Group. I reached out to the legal team that announced the bankruptcy, as well as those who reconstructed the company and assumed responsibility for its resources. At last, I managed to retrieve the documents that had been taken from your parents’ house and their company. It took me a while to sift through them, but I’ve now gone through them completely.”

Gently, Candice skimmed her fingers over the old documents. The sweet and comforting memories of when her parents were alive flooded back, causing a pool of tears to form in her eyes.
Candice drew in a deep breath before she said, “Are you here today to return these to me?”
“Indeed.” Greyson pointed to one of the ledgers. “I started out looking for specifics linked to that year’s products. Then I realized many of the documents were ledgers. Accounting isn’t my strong suit. I’ve flagged areas I was unsure or suspicious about. Perhaps you could have another look and find something new.”
Guided by the annotations made by Greyson, Candice read on. True enough, they were the financial statements from the days of the Blake Group. After going through them, Candice closed the book.
Lifting her gaze, she expressed her gratitude. “Thank you. And I apologize for troubling you.”
